Please read important copyright information, below

With the internet having become the researcher/genealogists most easily accessible and valuable resource, it has also spawned an overwhelming amount of errors and inferior work that becomes copied again... and again... and again. People 'find' their link to an ancestor on someone's site and grab all the data they can and run off with it, happy and content, with a huge feeling of accomplishment as if THEY have just done all the research and documentation.

The key word here is documentation. A true researcher/genealogist will document every tidbit of data that they find. You should, too.

If you find information of worth to you on the internet, you should use it as a guide, only. Often we will find information on someone's site, or an index of marriages, a cemetery inscription page, or a census transcription. Unless it's an image of the actual document or tombstone, etc., then you should view or send away for the actual document yourself. (This could save you years of 'barking up the wrong tree').
