Was elected town clearn of Rehoboth on May 13, 1668, and with the exception of
one year, 1693, held that office until his death. He was sent to the General
Court of Plymouth as a deputy in 1668, was chosen Deacon of his church in the
same year, and was chosen a surveyor in 1685. He was a man of superior
ability, accurate in all his business transactions, and a reliable councillor
in the Colony. He was noted for his superior penmanship, as evidenced by all
his writings. His house stood on the left-hand side of the road leading from
the East Providence meeting house to Rehoboth, on a rise of land some 50-60
rods from the crossing of the "ten mile river", and was one of the most
pleasant sites for a house in the locality." From Raymond G. Carpenters update

Michael WARE, via the FamilyHistory.com message board writes, "I have a Susannah Elizabeth Furr(Fuhr) in my database. She was married to Johan Philip Wehr in 1772, exact date unknown. She was the daughter of Leonard Fuhr who was a schoolmaster. Philip and Susannah are both buried in the Old
Heidelberg Cementery, he died in 1806 and her in in 1828. Her birthdate unknown. They had 9 children, Lorentz, Michael, Maria Catherine, Anna Maria, Maria Barbara, Peter, Susannah, Philip, and Elizabeth. Her will #802 is filed
in the Allentown courthouse. That is all the info I have on Susannah." (August, 2000).
Info posted by a Derek Hartman, January 2003, in response to the above message years earlier: I have some more info on Susannah Elizabeth Furr's daughter, Susannah.
She married Solomon Hartman (b. 1788) in 1808 in Heidelberg, PA. They had nine children:
Solomon Hartman-1809-1883
John Hartman-1811-?
Ruben Hartman-1812-1878
Susan Hartman-1815
Jonas Hartman-1817-1895
Harmon Hartman-1819-1877
Philip Hartman-1821-1896
Ann Hartman-1824-1898
Joseph Hartman-1827-1881
According to the book "The History of St. Joseph Co., Michigan," Solomon and Susannah moved to Wayne Co., OH in 1815, then to St. Joseph Co., MI in 1829. Solomon died in 1830 and is buried in St. Joseph Co. I don't know the story, but Susannah died in 1858 and is buried in Johnson Co., Iowa, where her sons Jonas, Joseph, and possibly Ruben, relocated to. Joseph is my ggg grandfather."
