|This hotel platter was for sale on ebay by Sean Meredith in March of 2004. He said he bought it with a restaurant china collection in Indiana in 1999. Description on ebay was "William Foor Hotel 13.25" Platter c. 1920. Condition is good with no chips or cracks. There is some glaze wear from use. No mfg. mark".|
In May of 2007, a like item was for sale on ebay. The description was: Here is a wonderful vintage platter by Albert Pick & Company, Chicago for The William Foor Hotels. At one time or another William Foor owned twelve large hotels in the East and the South. This platter is in good condition with some utensil scratches to the surface and staining to the edges. It has a small chip on the bottom but none to the rim or front. Looks like there is a little green paint on the underside. Back is stamped Albert Pick & Company Chicago, M China L. I believe the M & L indicate that it was made by Maddock China. This heavy platter measures approximately 15 3/4" long and 11" across. The platters look identical but this one sold on ebay in May 2007 appears to be a bit bigger by the description.
After 3 bids, the item sold for $20.50 with $14.55 shipping costs.
