Obit: "Weekly Press, Adrian MI, p 1, col 5, Feb 17, 1893 . . . "Uncle Samuel
Carpenter" of Royalton Twp., OH, just south of the Fairfield line, died
Wednesday last. Funeral on Sunday. 73y, "Staunch democrat" made no will.
Couldn't do enough for GAR post at Lyons. "Promised handsome contribution
toward the monument fund." Only son Sylvester, who inherits the property "Will no doubt respect the well known desire of his father and contribute such a sum as he believes would have been the [ ? ] of his venerable parent . . . and a few hundred dollars from the ample fortune of the deceased would not be missed by the son . . . Mr. Carpenter was a universalist." This is an abstract of obit sent to me by Jana Sloan Broglin Jan 1991.

OBIT: Sherwood -- Beatrice Anna Sprow, 84, died late Friday night at home. She was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Paulding County, the daughter of Jay and Maude (Egger) Hand. In 1938, she married Walter Sprow, who died in 1993. She worked at Ohio Art, retiring in 1976, and was a member of Sherwood Community Club. Surviving are a son, Larry, Hicksville; a brother, Seymour Hand, Antwerp; a sister, Bernice Marcom, Paulding; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. Alsp preceding her in death were three sisters and a brother. [Source unknown; from clipping. No date]
