Mother, who was Hannah Carpenter Hinkle, daughter of J.C. and Cordelia Thompson Carpenter, was born Oct. 1, 1849, and departed this life Feb. 7, 1925 at the age of 75 yrs, 4 months and 7 days.
On Feb. 13, 1876, she was united in marriage to Melvin Hinkle, who preceded her in death by less than a year. To their union 7 children were born: four sons and three daughters: Cordelia Hinkle Noble, deceased wife of C.O. Noble and mother of Nina Noble Drum of Detroit, Mich, Arthur, deceased, Louis J. of Redford, Mich, Ernest of Detroit, Mich, Mrs LaVern Smith of Lyons, O, Harry H. of Ft. Wayne, Ind, Mrs Ruth Drum of Toledo, O, sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was the eldest of a family of six children, three boys and three girls, Mrs I.J. Carpenter Dunbar of Lyons, Will Carpenter of Redford, Mich, Harmon Carpenter, deceased, Mrs Nina Carpenter, deceased.
For many years she has been a faithful member of the Universalist church of Lyons and has lived according to her faith.
As a sister Rebekah, she did her part as an active member for twenty-five years and filled the chair of Past Noble Grand for twenty years or more, and as her reward the degree of chivalry was conferred on her at Toledo, O in 1922.
Mother has departed this life, happy in the belief that she would be welcomed by Father, her companion for fifty-seven years.
