Minnich rites will be Tuesday in Union City. - Widow of minister dies at son's home; long illness.
Mrs. Saloma Minnich, 87, died Saturday at 1:30 a. m. at the home of her son, Levi Minnich, southeast of Union City, where she has lived for the past 10 years. She was the oldest and last of seven children born Joel and Mary Noffsinger, who lived north of the St. Mary's cemetery, near Union City. She was born March 21, 1853, attended the Lisbon school, and lived all of her life within seven miles of Union City.
On December 26, 1876, she was married at her home to David Minnich, who later became a minister in the Church of the Brethren and who died May 7, 1930. After a short time spent on a farm on the Wenrick Pike, east of Union City, she moved to the Mississinewa Valley community, seven miles northeast of Union City, in 1888, and remained there more than 40 years. She was an active and devoted member of the Church of the Brethren, assisting her husband in his work and entertaining the many guest ministers during revival services.
She is survived by three sons, Levi and Earl, of Union City , and Alva J., of eight miles northeast of Union City. Another son, Harry B. Minnich, well known school teacher, died December 26, 1928. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The body will be taken this afternoon from the Fisher-Becker Funeral home in Ansonia to the Alva Minnich home where friends may call. Final rites will be held in the Union City Church of the Brethren Tuesday at 1:30 p. m. (CST) with Rev. D. G. Berkabile officiating. Burial will be in the Brethren cemetery, north of this city.
