Orange Co NY b 08 Jul 1716 d 18 Mar 1805 near Warwick m Hannah BENEDICT b 25
Jan 1716 d 20 Jan 1810. In the year 1746 Daniel BURT came from Ridgefield, CT
and settled upon a farm near the village of Warwick. He soon returned to CT,
probably 3 or 4 years later, where he remained until 1760, when returning to
Warwick, and failing to secure his old farm, he located at Bellvale, NY. When
he came from CT in 1760 Daniel Whitney, who m his sister, Thankful Burt, came
with him to Warwick and settled. At the close of the same year Mr. Burt again
purchased a farm near Warwick, to which he moved, and on which he resided until
his death. Mrs. Burt was the d/o James Benedict of Ridgefield. At her death

H. Noffsinger, 56, 1631 S. Clinton Street, a line crew foreman of the Toledo
Edison Co., died almost instantly about 4pm Monday. He fell back into his
safety belt and his body was suspended until lowered by firemen and rescue
crewmen of Devil's Lake, Lenawee County, Michigan where the death occurred.
Noffsinger was trimming a large elm tree that was to be cut down. It stands
adjacent to his cottage property. His family were at their cottage in the
second week of vacation. Mr. Noffsinger had taken climbing equipment to the
lake to do the job. Death was attributed to a cerebral embolism by the coroner
who was lifted into the tree to make the examination. He said death
undoubtedly was instantaneous. Nofsinger had been working in the tree about an
hour and 15 minutes.
He was born on Oct 27, 1908 in Lyons, Ohio, a son of Clem and Alma Carpenter.
He had been employed by the Toledo Edison Co for 38 years. He started in
Toledo and was transferred to Grand Rapids, Ohio, from where he came to
Defiance in 1948. He married on Jan 8 1929 to Margaret STRAYER who survives.
He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Ann) Hallard, 1896 Maumee Drive; a son
Larry Noffsinger, 512 Ralston Ave., five grandchldren and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Fink, Grand Rapids. A brother, Clare, preceded him in death.
Noffsinger was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, the Wesleyan Bible
Class, Tuendawie Masonic lodge, Defiance Order of Eastern Star, Toledo Edison
Employees' Association and Local 245, International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers. He also belonged to the 25-year club of the Edison Company.
