"John Deming of Wethersfield CT", Judson Keith Deming, Dubuque, IA, Mathis-Mets

died soon after 1692 [will dated 03 Feb 1692] although his will was not proved
till 21 Nov 1705, and Savage and other genealogists have assumed that he lived
until that year....no public record has been found of the births of the ch of
John Deming, but their names, as far as known, have been taken from his will
which is preserved in the probate court of Hartford..." p 7 "This old will is
the one glimpse we have of the character of John Deming. It reveals a spirit
of piety, of love for his family and his friends, and the companionship of some
of the best men in the colony. It shows that he was a man of substance, well
supplied with lands and cattle..." "Because his wife is not mentioned in his
will, it is probable that she died first."

"Thomas F. Dodge was born in Andover, Windsor Co VT August 21st, 1806. Of his early history we have but little knowledge. His father died when he was eleven years old, being the oldest of the family. After the death of his father, he went to live with his uncle, and when a young man he came to Blissfield, this county. As early as October 18th, 1830 he purchased of Isaac Randall, a small farm, which, together with school teaching, furnished him employment. While a resident of Blissfield, he became acquainted with Miss Abigail V. Carpenter, daughter of Samuel carpenter, of Madison, a worthy young lady to whom he was married, August 8, 1831. By this union three children were born, Samuel C. Dodge being the oldest, born October 21st, 1832. He now resides at Reading, Hillsdale County. Mrs. Dodge died September 15th 1837."
