LOCATION: 1941 - Assemblyman's Son Killed in Deer Hunting - Bedford, Dec., a stray bullet fatally wounded Earl Foor,44, son of State Assemblyman A. F. Foor of Everett, while he was deer hunting with several companions in Trough Creek Valley, Bedford County. He died enroute to an Everett Hospital. Foor was the fourth gunshot victim of the five day old deer season. Two other hunters have been killed in automobile accidents. Surviving Foor are his widow, 10 children, the parents and 10 brother and sisters. Foor was a farmer. [Indiana Evening Gazette, Indiana, PA, Dec. 6, 1941]

1941 - Earl Roy Foor, aged 45 years, of Everett, Bedford County, the father of ten children, was instantly killed by a bullet from the rifle of his brother, A. F. Foor, Jr., also of Everett, while hunting in Todd township, Huntingdon county, yesterday afternoon about 2:45 o'clock. Foor's death was the first in Huntingdon county during the 1941 hunting season. The scene of the accident is in the barrens, one and one-half miles from Newburg in Trough Creek valley. Immediately following the fatal accident, Foor's body was placed on a truck and taken to Everett to the Balentine funeral home. Coroner William B. West, M. D., of Huntingdon was first informed of the accident by the Everett undertaker, and he directed that Coroner J. A. Enfield, M.D., of Bedford county, take charge of the investigation... Members of the hunting party in addition to the victim were his father, A. F. Foor Sr., Lawrence Foor, A. F. Foor, Jr., Elmer Foor, Oscar Foor and perry Foor, all of Everett; George Wink, Guy Wink and Earl McDonald, all of R. D. 2, Everett; harry Fribley, Eugene Fribley and Bert Easley, all of Defiance, Ohio. The party of hunters are all relatives of one another, it is said. The hunters had been camping in sawmill shanties at an old sawmill site near where the accident occurred. The fictim, Earl Foor, and his brother, A. F. Foor, Jr., George Wink and Guy Wink were the only members of the party hunting in the vicinity where the tragedy occurred. According to reports received in Huntingdon, A. F. Foor, Jr., saw a fox running through the woods. He apparently took off th esafety on his rifle to shoot the fox, but instead of shooting he started to run through the woods in order to get a better shot. As he was running he fell, causing his gun to discharge. he heard a cry almost instantly come from a distance of about 150 yards and calling to his brother, Earl, he received no reply. He hurriedly investigated and found his brother dead. The bullet had entered his right shoulder and then split, coming out at two points on the left side of his neck. Earl R. Foor was born in East Providence Township, January 3, 1896, a son of Hon. A. F. and Jennie (Foor) Foor. He was united in marriage with Mary Drenning of West Providence township and they have been residing in Snake Spring township. Surviving are ten children: Marvin and Norman, twins; Helen, wife of Donald Leach of Everett; Earl R. Jr., Ida Jane, Vera, Vada, Willard, Joy, and Timothy Ray, aged 3 months. He is also survived by ten sisters and brothers: Pearl, wife of Ira Colledge, of Everett; Elmer, of Everett; Mrs. Phoebe Felten, of Everett; Blanche, wife of Merle Akers, of Windber; Oscar, Lawrence, Rhoda, wife of Ellis Sponsler, Percy, A. F. Foor, Jr., and Betty, all of Everett. Mr. Foor was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church of Everett. He was a kind and loving father and his tragic death has cast a pall of gloom not only over members of his immediate family but many friends in Bedford county. Time of the funeral service is dependent upon the arrival home from Camp Fort Bragg, North Carolina, of his son, Marvin, who is in the US Army. If he arrives in time, the services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Rays Cove Christian Church, the Rev. Mr. Kimball in charge. Ross P. Balentine of Everett will direct interment in the church cemetery. [Daily News, Huntingdon, PA, Dec. 5, 1941]

"To Samuel and Nancy Kramer there came first the addition of a daughter, who
was welcomed and greeted as a harbinger of future happiness. She was named
Sarah Eleanora; was pretty, intelligent, and precocious, quick to learn and
devoted, even as a child, to her parents and later, to her brothers and
sisters. Four years later came another little girl who was named Harriet
Loraine, partly in honor of her Aunt Harriet Bumbarger. To her friends she
was Hattie. Then after the passage of another two years, a third daughter
came to brighten the Kramer home, and she surely did brighten it with love
and cheerfulness. She was given the name of Elizabeth Irene, partly in honor
of her Aunt Elizabeth (Bumbarger) Edwards." "THE VILLAGE. MEMORIES OF
LITHOPOLIS", John Bartram Kramer, August 1936, p 22.

" But Irene was vivacious, happy herself, and was never satisfied unless she had all about her laughing as joyously. She was the life of every group, and even when enduring the sorrows of life which abundantly met her, she hid them to make others happy." "THE VILLAGE. INDEX

[30246] Mary Elizabeth Sterling/Starling appeared to have two illegitimate children; Harvey and Albert. Albert's death certificate shows his last name as Wilson and his father as William Wilson and mother as Mary Sterling. William Wilson is listed with Mary Sterling and her children in the 1900 census, but they are not married and her children bear the name of Sterling. Either these were truly William Wilson's children born out of wedlock, or they were someone else's children and William adopted them. My guess is the former. Mary lists herself as widowed in subsequent censuses, but then lists her name as Wilson. Her estranged husband, however, does not reside with her. His death certificate shows he was married (he died before her) but no wife was mentioned in his obituary.

Death certificate image. Amos Conwell Williamson, Methodist Home for the Aged, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, June 6, 1929, aged 81y 8m 8d, married to Sadie, born Sep. 28, 1847 in Lancaster, Ohio to Silas Williamson b Lancaster, Ohio and Lucinda Shaw b OH. Informant was Elizabeth Brown of the Methodist Home for the Aged. Buried or Removed to Amanda, Ohio, June 8.

In looking through the Amanda township cemetery book, there is no Amos Williamson listed. My guess is that he's buried at Amanda Twp. cemetery and either no stone was ever erected or it was not there when they did a reading.

NOTE: Interesting that Amos married and was living all the way west in WA., but came back to Ohio to be put into a home for the aged... while it appears his wife then went back to WA where she's found in the 1930 census in the Estern State Hospital in Spokane Co., WA as an inmate, aged 55 b Canada, parents b England. She must've went back to be near relatives.
