have different countries listed for their parents? And in this entry, why
does the married couple living with them have different last names? Is
Harring perhaps the woman's maiden name?

[31228] Janice Miller
Obituary

LANCASTER: Janice (Jan) A. Miller, 70, passed away peacefully on August 16, after a brief illness.

Jan grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She began rearing her family in Kansas City, Kansas. After her first marriage ended, Jan attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City, completing her Masters of Library Science Degree later at Kent State University. She built a house in Lawrence, Kansas, and moved there to work as an elementary school librarian. There, she met Darrel Miller. They married in 1977 and he moved their blended family to Ohio, which became her beloved home for the rest of her life. Life was full of Bloom-Carroll school activities, an open door to her sons' and grandsons' friends, laughter, challenges, and many life celebrations, such as Halloween bonfires and huge Christmases.

She believed in Christ and followed his teachings as she set a good life example for her family and friends. She worked several years as assistant director of the Wagnalls Memorial Library, striving to schedule her colleagues' work so they could give priority to their families. After retirement, she and Darrel took some wonderful trips, and she devoted much of her time to making her home and yard beautiful and a great place for growing old and gathering her family together.

She is survived by her husband Darrel Miller; three sons: Michael Renard of Lancaster, Douglas Miller (Kathy) of Royalton, and Chris Renard (Jodi) of Dublin; six grandchildren: Andy Renard, Geoff Renard, Brett Renard, Lauren Renard, Kyle Renard, and Nicole Miller; her brother Robert Funk of Tulsa, and her sister Sara Funk of Lenexa, Kansas.

A graveside service for the family will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 20 from 5-8 PM at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Wagnalls Memorial Library in Lithopolis, Ohio in memory of Jan.

To send an online condolence and sign guestbook, please visit www.sheridanfuneralhome.net and click obituaries.

From a letter written April 26, 1887 - "Dear Sir, I thought I would sit down and address you a letter telling you that there are a family of Spurgeons in this part of God's earth, and they are some of them, or were (as they have gone to their reward), ministers. My grandfather, Elijah Spurgeon, was a Methodist minister, and his brother, Jesse Spurgeon, was a Methodist minister. Our branch of the Spurgeon family are all Methodists, except one of my brothers, William Spurgeon, who was a Baptist. I believe that is your Church. In looking over my father's diary I find this item: 'My great grandfather James Spurgeon came from England about the years 1704 to 1710 and was from near London'. My father had three brothers, Jesse Spurgeon, Nimrod, and Asa. My father's name was Moses R. Spurgeon. There were eight of us in my father's house; three died in infancy, two in manhood's prime, and four are left -- my brother, James Spurgeon; my sister, Mrs. Anne Lawson; brother, Rufus Spurgeon; and myself, Eliza Spurgeon Hoys." Letter written to Rev. C. H. Spurgeon. Original data: Higgs, W. Miller. The Spurgeon family : being an account of the descent and family of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, with notes on the family in general, particularly the Essex branch, from 1465 (5 Edward IV.) to 1905 (4 Edward VIII.). Reformed Congregations of the Glick/Salem (Union)/Brick Church, 1808-1915,
Bloom Township, Fairfield County, OH", Fairfield Co. Chapter OGS, 1993, p 50. DOB shown as 13 Sep 1880. Name listed as Mary Alberta Zwayer.

DOB/DOD/POBurial: "Cemeteries of Bloom Township, Fairfield County, OH", Fairfield Co., Ohio, Chapter OGS, 1996, p 258. Only 4 "Lamb"'s shown buried there by book printing in 1996. Besides Alberta, there are two people buried close to her which are probably children: Woodrow died 1912, and Geraldine died 1903. Judith Flinn, via June 2001 email, says that the date of birth the book shows (Aug., 13, 1881) is wrong, as "it is clearly September 13, 1880 on her tombstone".

OBIT: submitted by Judith Evers Flinn via April 2002 email: Alberta, daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann Zwayer, was born September 13, 1880, and died January, 1932, aged 51 years, 4 months and 5 days. She was married to Dale Lamb in 1902, to this union were born eight children, three daughters and five sons. Geraldine (Lamb) and Woodrow Wilson (Lamb) preceeded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, two daughters and one daughter-in-law, besides other relatives. She joined Salem Reformed Church in her youth, but on account of sickness she could not attend as regular as she would have liked to. Funeral was conducted at the Thomen Funeral Home, Saturday, at 2 P.M. Burial in Lithopolis cemetery.

Death certificate image 1948. Alberta Lamb, Lancater, Fairfield Co., Ohio, a resident of community 10 years, died Jan. 18, 1932, aged 51y 4m 5d. Died at 3 p.m. from hernia, strangulated. Born Sept. 13, 1880 in Lithopolis, Ohio, to Joseph Zwayer b OH and Mary Leach b OH. Informant was Paul Lamb of Carroll, Ohio. Buried Lithopolis Jan. 20.
