DOB/DOD: From Dinah Young, 6490 Fenestra Court, Burke, VA 22015 (Feb 1998) She further states that James was the s/o Daniel and Sarah DODSON, and that the oldest child Harry was not James Dodson's son. "My great-aunt told me this and then in the 1880 there is no Harry living with James and Elizabeth. However, there is a 5 year old Harry FOOR living with his grandfather Peter FOOR. The oldest daughter is listed as Clara. This was a nickname. Most people knew her by this name, even her obituary said her name was Clara. However, her tombstone says Flora Bell. Her daughter told me that her real name was Flora Bell." Dinah gave me the death date of 28 Apr 1915, but I find James Dodson in the 1920 census.

"His [Jerome C. Mckinley] parents were James and Effie (Courtright) McKinley, the former born in Scotland, while the latter was a native of Fairfield county, Ohio. James McKinley came to Ohio with his parents when he was quite young and here he met and married his wife. He engaged for many years in farming but enjoyed a few years of retirement in Lithopolis. His death occurred at the age of sixty-nine years and Mrs. McKinley was called to another life at the age of forty-two years. Ten children were born to this union, four of whom are living: Mrs. Maggie Glick who is a widow and resides in Lithopolis; J. Andrew, a retired cattle-man of Columbus, Ohio; J. F., a druggest of Leigh, Nebraska; and Jerome C., the subject of this review. Mr. McKinley was always a stanch supporter of the democratic party, and both he and his wife were active in the Presbyterian church." [16894] DOB/DOD/POBurial: "Cemeteries of Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH", Fairfield County Gen. Soc., Chapter OGS, 1996, p 315. Name listed as Jacob Shride. Full dates. Buried first addition, lot 148 grave 3.

NOTE: This family is very confusing. In 1850 Jacob is 52 and appears to be widowed. In 1850 in a township just north of him is Elizabeth Shride 30y born in Ireland, also appears to be widowed and having a couple children. In 1860 these two families seem to merge, and Jacob's age should be 62 rather than 42, so I had assumed it to be a son named Jacob. I can't find a Jacob born about 1818 in the 1850 census, though.

He bought a tract of partly improved land in Fairfield county and the remainder of his life was devoted to farming in that locality until death rounded out his life in 1861. NOTE: This is NOT documented for her second husband. Info for several years for SPANGLER research has been circulating showing Enoch Spangler m/3 Sarah MCCORMICK. Recently I've seen where his third wife was actually Susannah Swander McCormick. Where the name "McCormick" comes in, I don't know. Perhaps it was a husband she married in between WAGNER and SPANGLER.

"Susannah Swander, daughter of Frederick, was born October 3, 1814 in Bloom township, Fairfield Co., Ohio, and was married to Jacob Wagner in 1834. Soon after their marriage they moved to the growing Swander settlement in Shelby county, where they lived seven years. They moved to Columbus, Ohio, and from there to Lithopolis where Mr. Wagner died in 1861. Unto these parents were born six children. Two of these died at a very early age...", Ancestry.com. History of the Swander family. Provo, UT. MyFamily.com, Inc.. 2004. History of the Swander family. Swander, John I.,. Tiffin, Ohio. T.S. Falkner and H.D. Pittenger. 1899, p 94.

"Susanah Swander, daughter of Frederick, after remaining a widow for two years, married Enoch Spangler, and in 1890 -- the date of the latest information at hand--they were still living, though in feeble health", Ancestry.com. History of the Swander family. Provo, UT. MyFamily.com, Inc.. 2004. History of the Swander family. Swander, John I.,. Tiffin, Ohio. T.S. Falkner and H.D. Pittenger. 1899, p 95.

DOD: Cemetery book shows that "Susannah Spangler, mother, wife of E.,", died Aug. 17, 1890, aged 75y 10m 16d. Her d.o.b. figured would be 1 Oct 1814. She is buried beside her previous husband, Jacob Wagner who died in 1861, though in 1995 when the latest reading was done on this cemetery before the publication of the cemetery book, his tombstone was not found.
