Mrs. Isaiah Dunbar.
Miss Mina Carpenter was born at Lyons, Ohio, Dec. 28, 1858, and
departed this life Feb. 10, 1922, at her home in Raisin. She was one of
five children born to James and Cordelia Carpenter, one brother having
preceded her to the better land.
She was united in marriage to Isaiah Dunbar Dec. 28, 1879. To this
union was born three children, James of Vancouver, Wash., Ray of Adrian,
and Bernice, now wife of J. O. Morris of Sand Creek. She leaves the
husband and children, nine grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Melvin
Hinkle and Mrs. George Hayward, both of Lyons, Ohio, and one brother,
William Carpenter of Coleman. She also leaves many nephews and nieces.
Her early girlhood days were spent in and about Lyons, and while very
young she learned to love her Saviour and ever lived a consistent
Christian life. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of
Adrian, and though not active of late years because of failing health,
she was ever an example of Christian kindness towards everyone with whom
she came in contact. [Obit sent email by Dennis Carpenter, Oct. 2003]
