"Peter Linn... was born in Bierbach, Bavaria, March 4, 1859, and is a son of
Daniel and Gertrude (Fuchs) Linn, the former of whom was born in Rhinefaltz,
Bavaria, March 2, 1812. He was reared a farmer and learned the weaver's
trade, and in 1836 married Gertrude Fuchs, who was born in the same place,
January 26, 1815. To this marriage there were born 9 children as follows:
Jacob, a farmer of Mercer county; Philip, also a farmer of Mercer county;
George, a shoemaker of Saint Ingerbert, Germany; Henry, a farmer and weaver
of Germany; Michael, a grocer of Celina, Ohio; John, a shoemaker in
Massachusetts; Gottfried, a resident of Liberty township, Mercer county,
Ohio; Peter, the subject of this sketch, and Mary, deceased wife of Jacob
Hine. For some time after his marriage Daniel Linn lived in Germany, farmed
and carried on weaving, then came to the United States with his son, Peter,
in 1874, remained four years, and then returned to his native land where he
died May 29, 1886. In religion he was a Protestant, while his wife was a
