Case #1657, estate of John Alspach of Bloom twp., filed 1838. Peter Betz, administrator. Widow was probably Margaret, whose administrater after her death was Daniel Crumley. Jacob B., George and John alspach purchased personal property. Other names mentioned: Christena, Sabastian, Jonathan and David Alspach and Elizabeth Foor. John Alspach owned land in sec. 9, twp. 14, range 20. He had received a pension. "Fairfield County Will and Estate Abstracts, Cases 1001-2000, Jean Collier, Fairfield County Chapter OGS, 1998, p 49.

"Johannes Alspach was the son of Reinhard Alspach and Anna Magdalena Brandstaetter, both born in, or near, Thaleischweiler, Germany. According to the church records, Reinhard was a "hofschnied" or farrier. His father was a "schmied" or blacksmith. After their marriage they sailed for America. Their first child was born in Germany, all the rest were born in this country. There were several Reinhard Alspachs and several Anna Magdalena Brandstaetter, and to make it even more confusing, they often married. However, several years separate each couple. The church records of Thaleischweiler say the children of another Reinhard Alspach and Anna Magdalena Brandstaetter were born there, and many believe these to be our Reinhard and Anna Magdalena's children. This adds to the confusion. John Alspach served in the Revolutionary War.", from Arlene Zoll McLennan of Plymouth, Michigan, via March 2001 email.

[29533] This entire STUCKEY family is very confusing. It appears their last name was once LEHN or LANE.

Ship: Caspian, arrived 03 Apr 1847 in New York, NY. Port of Departure: Le Havre, France. Ancestry.com. New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: The Generations Network, Inc., 2006.

", Sophia, 11y b Germany, attended school <<--Sophia Stuckey?

1854 - Mathias Lehn and Catharine Bart, marriage license Oct. 4, 1854, "crossed out, apparently not issued". "Fairfield County, Ohio Marriages, V III, 1852-1868", Fairfield Co., Ohio, Chapter OGS, 2006.

The above marriage -- or license that was never issued -- note the maiden name of "Catharine Bart". In Nicholas Stuckey's death certificate, his father's name is listed as Jacob Stuckey, and mother as Catherine "Barth".

In 1861, the parents listed for a Sarah "Sackretter" were Heinrich Sackreiter & Sophia Lahn. Sophia Lehn/Lane is in the 1850 census shown above. The marriage for Henry Sackriter and Sophia Stuckey occurred in Fairfield Co., OH. At first, I thought perhaps that Stuckey was a prior married name for Sophia, but I can find no Stukey's in Fairfield Co., Ohio in 1850 that were born overseas. Most of the Stuckey's (Stookey) in Fairfield Co. at that time were all born in OH and two were born in about 1770 and 1784 in PA. Bios and newspaper extracts often show that Sophia Sackriter was a sister to mentioned Stuckey's.

It is uncanny how Nicholas and Sophia LANE/LEHN fit so neatly into the same info as Nicholas and Sophia STUCKEY do. Where one family (the Lane's) leave off and mysteriously disappear, the Stuckey's take up. And there's no sign of Nicholas and Sophia Stuckey during the same time frame as Nicholas and Sophia Lane.
