LOCATION: 1970 - Explosion, Fire In House Kills Three Children. Clearfield, PA: (UPI) -- An explosion and fire in a home early Sunday claimed the lives of three children whil a relative helped two others to safety by dropping them from a second-story window. Broderick Foor, 30, an uncle who was staying with the children while theyr parents went to nearby Everett, said he heard an explosion and then "the whole house seemed to go up in flames". Randy Davis, 6, and two of his sisters, Bonny-Kay, 5, and Ruby-Anne, 7, died in the flames. Foor said he tried to reach them. The surviving children, Sharon Davis, 8, and Orva Davis, Jr., 11, were treated at a nearby hospital after they were thrown from the window. Foor suffered minor burns on his arm and face, but he did not require hospitalization. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orva Davis, were treated for shock. Fireman battled the blaze for nearly two hours. The cause was not determined. [The Daily Courier, Connellsville, PA, Sept. 22, 1970]
