Samuel P. Cofman - When the arrival of the white man led to the making of history in Ohio, but when the greater part of the state was still unimproved and progress and development was yet a thing of the future, the Cofman family was established in Fairfield county. The first of the name of whom we have record was David Cofman, who lived and died in Virginia. His son, John, was the great grandfather of our subject. He became a resident of Lancaster in 1809. There he followed the carpenter's trade, but in 1811 he removed to Bloom township and was one of the most prominent and influential men of that early day, being the advisor of the entire neighborhood. He was a hard-working, energetic man, possessed sound common sense, was reliable in all life's relations and trustworty in friendship. In early life he had been a slave owner in Virigina, but liberated his bondsman and came to Ohio.
A Biographical record of Fairfield and Perry Counties, Ohio. New York: S.J. Clarke Pub. Co., 1902, p 49-50.

"Mr. Cofman attended the public schools and was reared upon the home farm of his father in Bloom township. It was there that his birth occurred on the 19th of October, 1862. At the usual age he entered school, continuing his studies until he had gained a good knowledge of the branches of English learning, and upon his father's farm he received ample training in the work of field and meadow, this however, equipping him for the duties of farm life. On the 23d of March 1884, Mr. Cofman was united in marriage to Miss Chloe M. Zaayer, a daughter of William and Isabella Zaayer of Bloom township. Unto Mr. and Mrs. Cofman have bene born seven children: Dora E., Nellie B., Frank M., Mary I., Clara S., and Ruthie Fay, all of whom are at home, and Helen M., who died at the age of one year and six months, October 16, 1900. A Biographical record of Fairfield and Perry Counties, Ohio. New York: S.J.
Clarke Pub. Co., 1902, p 51.

Death certificate image. Samuel P. Cofman died Feb. 2, 1952 in Canal Winchester, Franklin Co., Ohio, Mound Street. Married. Retired farmer. Born Oct. 19, 1862 in Carroll, Ohio, aged 89y 3m 13d. Parents Henry Cofman and Mary Jane Lamb. Buried Feb. 5 in Betzer Cem.

[3335] NAME/POB/DOB/DOM: From Louann Foor, email, 9/1998, 26834 Tower Dr., Sand
Springs, OK 74063. "Wade Sr. was a police officer --one of the first OK Hwy
Patrol officers.. Was captain of the Vice Squad during the Depression, had a
shoot-out with Machine Gun Kelley which resulted in the death of his partner.
Had a heart attack and drowned while fishing with friends."

NOTE: The first marriage of Wade to Vanessa SILER is not confirmed. My suspicion is that they are the same individual, as there are very few FOORs in the area during 1920, and it's a big coincidence to have a Wade Foor born in Kentucky and being in Tulsa Co., OK to not be the same Wade. I cannot find ANY Wade Foor in the 1920 census yet. The fact that Vanessa lists herself as a 21y widow in 1920 with a child doesn't deter me yet from believing the two Wades may be the same individual. It was often preferable for a woman to list herself as widowed or single rather than divorced during that time period.

OBIT: Rochester Sentinel, Rochester, IN: Monday, October 2, 1899

Mrs. Sarah HAIMBAUGH, wife of Conrad HAIMBAUGH, after a long period of sickness, died at her home four miles north east of Rochester at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. She was born in Pennsylvania on the 23rd day of September, 1834. At an early age her parents moved to Fairfield county, Ohio, where she resided with the family until 1851, when she was united in marriage to Conrad Haimbaugh. In 1861 they moved to Fulton county, Indiana, where they have resided since. To them were born eleven children, nine of whom, with the father, survive to mourn the loss of a noble mother who has led an active, conscientious and successful life. As a neighbor she was obliging and always ready with helping hands and kind words to soothe the afflicted; as a mother she was loving and kind; as a wife she was dutiful and, above all, she was faithful and obedient to her Lord.
The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church this afternoon, Rev. SMITH officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
