[30892] OBIT:

SAUNDRA DENNEY Saundra Kaye Denney, 64, of Henderson, passed away Aug. 30, 2010, from complications following a recent stroke. Saundra, known to her friends and family as Sandy, was born in 1946. She grew up in Lithopolis, Ohio, and was a graduate of Bloom-Carroll High School. Above all, Sandy valued family and friendship. She was a devoted wife and mother, defining herself through her loving nature and selfless commitment to those whose lives she touched. Sandy married Evert "Wayne" Denney in 1966. Dedicated to one another, they remained married for 44 years until her passing. Together, they raised a family of two children in the Washington, D.C., area. Sandy balanced the demands of work and family, providing nurturing guidance to her children. In retirement, her care spanned generations and distance. Sandy remained in close contact with her granddaughter, letting her know how much she was loved and that she was immensely proud of her accomplishments. Sandy saw the beauty in the world around her. She was an avid gardener, taking great joy in the flower beds and hummingbirds around her homes. She was fond of art, travel and interior decorating. She was also an accomplished cook and enjoyed hosting family holiday celebrations. Sandy is survived by her husband; and two children, Ryan Denney of Grafton, W.Va., and Sherry Dawson of Jessup, Md. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Nicole Dawson of Jessup; sisters, Bonnie Mills of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Pattie Bevis of Chambersburg, Pa.; and brother, William Lupfer of New Freedom, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Virginia Lupfer; and brother, Larry Lupfer. Sandy's life will be celebrated in a service at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Odyssey Health Care, 4011-A McLeod Drive, Las Vegas. A second celebration will be held in the Columbus, Ohio, area during October 2010. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a local hospice organization.

1906 - Chris Doss of Philo and E. C. Pasal of Urbana Go South. Philo Budget.
Chris Doss and his son-in-law, E. C. Pasal of Urbana, departed Tuesday
morning for Palacious City, Texas, where Mr. Doss will spend several weeks in
looking over the country, while Mr. Pasal intends to do some contracting and
building in the new Texas city. Chris made our office a short visit before
leaving and ordered his paper sent to hime at the above named place. He also
tells us that if the climate down in Texas proves to be beneficial to his
health, which now is somewhat failing, he will move his family there in the
near future. Although we will hate to lose Mr. Doss' cheerful face from our
midst, yet if his health can be improved by moving to Texas, we will help
pack his trunk, for we would love to see him live long enough to renew that
lease on his oyster field--99 years. [Urbana Daily Courier, Friday, August

INDEX

[28322] Son of Hon. Henry CUMMINGS b Jan. 5, 1881 who m July 15, 1844 Elizabeth King of Wilton NH. "Channing Wood, b Aug. 24, 1846; m. 1. 1871 Mary Wilson, daughter of Dr. George and Lucretia (Wilson) Eals, b. Lithopolis, O.; she went to England to be married, and d. Feb. 1872, having been married but little over nine months." Source: Original data: Farnam, Charles Henry,. History of the descendants of John Whitman of Weymouth, Massachusetts. New Haven, Conn.: Tuttle, Morehouse & Taylor, 1889, p 286.

NOTE: The above text book is difficult to understand, not being written in standard pedigree style with use of numbering system. It APPEARS at first that Channing's name is simply "Channing Wood", but his father is shown on previous page whose last name appears to just be the Honorable "Henry Cummings". However, the last name is WHITMAN. It is not understood or mentioned why Mary Eels went to England to get married, when it appears that Channing Whitman was of Fairfield county, Ohio, as well. Channing Whitman was highly educated. "He was appointed vice-Consul at Huddlesfield, Eng., a position he has ever since retained".
