(Source: Bedford Gazette, 1984; abstract of obituary posted to the Bedford Co., PA GenWeb website)

DOD: No "Velma" or "V" or any Foor born in 1895 comes close to being Velma Foor the social security death index. There is a Velma Foor in the Massachusetts death index, Cert. #056362, died in Norwood, born in Boylston, born 11 Feb 1895 (one day off of that submitted by Betty Graff to the Latter Day Saints website), and died 22 Dec 1984. Ancestry.com. Massachusetts Death Index, 1970-1998 [database online]. Provo, Utah: Ancestry.com, 2003. Original data: State of Massachusetts. Massachusetts Death Index, 1970-1998. Boston: Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Health Services, 19--.

NOTE: Since the date of birth of this individual is one day off of that in the Massachusetts index, this MAY NOT BE THE CORRECT DEATH DATE for Velma (Bryson) Foor. It also lists her location of birth as Boylston, MA, and the submitted info to the LDS website showed she was born in Breezewood.

OBIT: William J. Foor, aged 27 years, Six Mile Run coal miner, was instantly killed yesterday afternoon about 2 o'clock while at his work at the Bunker Hill Coal Company mine on the Six Mile Run branch. The young man had come out of the mine and had entered a building where supplies were stored, presumably for the purpose of either getting dynamite or to get supplies necessary to set off a shot, in some manner an explosion occurred. It was evident that the explosives were in his hands at the time of the let-go. Coroner N. A. Timmins, M. D., of Bedford, conducted the investigation. The Daily News learned today that no inquest will be held. William J. Foor was a son of Clay and Mary McGee Foor, and was born in Broad Top township, Bedford Co., PA., on July 22, 1908. At the time of death he was aged 27 years 6 months and 19 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Mildred Barton, who survives with two sons, Norman and Robert W. Foor, both at home. Also surviving are the parents and one brother, Alton Foor, all of Finleyville. The body was prepared for burial by Robert E. Huff, Saxton, undertaker. Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran church at Breezewood, Bedford county, on Monday afternoon. Interment will be made in the Breezewood cemetery.
