NAME: Mentioned in HISTORY OF FAIRFIELD AND PERRY COUNTIES, OHIO, THEIR PAST AND PRESENT, Compiled BY A. A. Graham, W. H. BEERS & CO. 1883, p 314.

"Upon first coming to this state our subject [Abraham Ordel] spent two years in Edwards and Tazewell Counties, then, returning to Ohio, was married in Fairfield County to Miss Mary J. Hoshor, who was born there Feb. 8, 1833. Her parents were Geroge and Mary (Litzenberger) Hoshor, natives of Pennsylvania, but of Germany ancestry. They removed to Ohio before their marriage, their wedding also taking place in Fairfield county. The father was born in 1800, followed farming all his life, and departed hence in 1882. The mother is yet living in Ohio. Mrs. O. was reared in her Native county and remained with her parents until her marriage. Of her union with our subject there were born nine children, two of whom, M. Catherine and Edward, are deceased. Those living are Ida B., and George, married, and John, Emma E., William H., Samuel and Franklin at home. After the marriage of our subject he settled with his wife upon a farm in Fairfield County, Ohio, where they remained until their removal to this State. They became residents of Champaign County in 1871, operating on rented land in Philo Township two years before the purchase of their present homestead. Both are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of Raymond Township, of which Mr. O. is Trustee." "Portrait and Biographical Album of Champaign Co., IL", Chapman Bros., Chicago, 1887, p 302.

Philo [Champaign Co., IL] Area Centennial, 1875-1975, Illinois Historical Survey

"Abraham Ordel Family

Abraham Ordel was born in Maryland, January 8, 1831. He was married to Mary Jane Hoshor at Lockville, Ohio, March 30. 1854.

They moved to Illinois in the fall of 1870 with their family of seven children in a covered wagon. They settled and built a home on a farm
three miles south of Philo where they farmed. Two more boys were born to this union in Illinois: Charles, May 21, 1872 and Franklin, July 31, 1875. They lost four of their children when they were young: Catherine 1855-1875; Charles 1972-1881 ; Ida 1856-1888; Emma, 1863-1894.
The other five boys all lived to a ripe old age and were all farmers, John, William, Samuel and Frank in the Philo community and George in In-
diana. Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Ordel celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary' March 30, 1904.

Mrs. Ordel died January 19, 1907, after a long illness. Mr. Ordel died as he drove home from getting the mail in Philo in his horse and buggy

The following article appeared in the Lancaster,(O.), Eagle-Gazette in 1951. THEY MARRIED FIFTY YEARS AGO. Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Lamb To Celebrate Their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Open house will be observed by Mr. and Mrs, E.W.Lamb, Carroll Route One in their farm home from one to five O'clock Sunday afternoon. The affair will celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of the couple.
Married April 18, 1901, when the Rev. John Gorley of First Presbyterian Church officiated at the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Lamb have lived in the same community over fifty years. Mrs. Lamb is the former Mary E. Stansberry, daughter of the late Mary Williams and S. G. Stansberry. Mr. Lamb is the son of the late Carrie Brown and G. W. Lamb. Four children are living: J.Cecil Lamb, Lancaster Route three Mrs. Clifford Coffman, Carroll Route One, Mrs. Forest Kiger, Carroll Route One, and Paul O., of the home. A daughter Zina E. Lamb, died in November 1922. There are five grandchildren. Mr and Mrs. Lamb enjoy reasonably good health. Always Mr. Lamb has been interested in agriculture and stock raising.
(The article includes a photo of the couple.)

NOTE: Although it says that E. W. Lamb was the son of G. W. and Carrie (BROWN) LAMB, I do not believe this to be true. Edward was b in 1872. In the 1900 census, it shows his father being married only 10 years to Carrie, and Carrie is listed as having had 3 children with only 2 living. George was obviously married at least once previous to Carrie.

DOD/POD: Name listed as Edward W. Lamb, white male, resided in Fairfield Co., died at home on Jan. 8, 1959 at age 86, widowed. Ancestry.com and Ohio Department of Health. Ohio Deaths, 1908-1932, 1938-1944, and 1958-2002 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: The Generations Network, Inc., 2006.

1926 - Canal Winchester - Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Loy entertained Thursday
evening, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Loy and Mrs. and Mrs. George Vorhees, of Carroll.
[Lancaster Daily Gazette, Lancaster, Ohio, March 18, 1926]

1927 - Birthday Dinner - the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Vorhees was the scne Sunday of a delightful gathering when several of Mrs. Vorhees friends came to help celebrate her 7th birthday. At the noon hour a delightful dinner was served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Loy, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Loy and daughter Ara, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Dennison and sons Carl and Ernest, Mrs. Frank Cofman and Miss Watss of Carroll, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Loy and daughter Marie and Mr. Mahlon Loy of Lancaster. [Lancaster Daily Eagle, Lancaster, Ohio, February 8, 1927]

"Mrs. George Vorse, 77, died this morning at four o'clock at her home east of Carroll, following a paralytic stroke, suffered last Sunday. Surviving are the husband George Vorse; two sons, Charles Dennison of Lancaster, Homer Dennison of near Carroll; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Coffman, Carroll; four brothers, Jacob and Samuel Loy, near Carroll, Mahlon and William Loy of Lancaster; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Spencer, Laurelville.
