The 1880 census would indicate that wife Elizabeth was married before to a PRESSLER who was born in OH and possibly died before this census was taken. That would mean the Elizabeth in the census is not Elizabeth Kesler, and because of the large gap between the ages of children, Maud and Lloyd may be from the union of this Elizabeth and Charles, and that the mother of the other children died sometime after the birth of Luther, abt. 1861, and child Maud, abt. 1873. There is an Elizabeth who matches this description in the cemetery book.

It looks to me like the data is actual for his daughter, and not for his son-in-law.

NAME: From bio on son Zebulon P. LEE. See notes on Zebulon.
"STEPHEN LEE, farmer, P. O. Vanlue, born July 15, 1839, in Amanda Township, Hancock Co., Ohio, is a son of Richard M. and Lydia (Wyant) Lee, natives of Fairfield County, Ohio, and who came to this county in 1828 or 1830, settling in Amanda Township, where they began pioneer life, enduring many hardships and privations to secure a home for their children. Richard M. Lee departed this life in 1854, and his widow followed him in 1882. They were parents of the following named children: Perry, Caroline (wife of D. Gilbert), John (deceased), Marion, David, Stephen, Jason and Noah. Most of these children are living in Amanda Township, this county. Stephen Lee, the subject of this sketch, married, in 1862, Mary, daughter of Joseph Carver and by her had six children: Caroline (deceased), Joseph W., Loran, Laura, Addison and Louie, the five living being with their parents. As a pioneer child Mr. Lee had but meager chances to acquire an education himself. and being a reasonable and thoughtful man he is giving his children an opportunity to profit by the educational advantages which the present day affords. Mr. Lee is a well-to-do farmer: His father left him 120 acres of land, which he sold. He then purchased of James Hughes 120 acres in the eastern part of Amanda Township, this county, a well-regulated and well-improved farm. He is a member of the United Brethren Church." NOTE: Several published lineages show this same Harvey Outcalt as having the middle name of CAMPBELL rather than GILBERT. His census records consistantly show his middle initial as "C". Death certificates are only as good as their informant, which in his case was his wife. Perhaps instead of having the middle name of his father, Gilbert, he was given the middle name of Campbell which was the maiden name of his mother.

See notes on father also.
"Alonzo W. Strode obtained his education in the schools of Lithopolis and Marion, Ohio, being graduated at the latter place. He paid his own way through school and, though frequently encountering discouraging and disheartening conditions, worked steadily on until he had attained the desired proficiency and had become well qualified by educational training for the practical and responsible duties of life. He attributes his success in securing an education "under difficulties" largely to his mother, who, fully realizing the value of mental development, cheered and encouraged him to the end. Taking up the profession of teaching, he was thus engaged for nine years, imparting clearly and readily to others the knowledge that he had acquired. Since his marriage, however, he has given his time and energies to agricultural interests and owns a valuable tract of land of ninety-three acres in Madison township, in the careful cultivation of which he has gained a creditable degree of prosperity.
On the 14th of September, 1893, Mr. Strode was united in marriage to Miss Ida E. Seymour. At the polls he gives his support to the men and measures of the democracy and in religious faith is a Presbyterian, having served as eider in the chrch for twenty-five years. Fraternally he is a Mason and is master of the lodge at Groveport, which was organized in 1850 and has now more than sixty members. He is likewise identified with the Grange and in all life's relations has been true to his obligaions and duties, being greatly esteemed throughout the community in which he resides."
