Mrs. Foor united with the Lithopolis M. E. Church December 6th 1896 and while she was not able to attend regularly she loved the house of God and often expressed her faith in the Great Redeemer and His Power to save.
As we lay her body in the silent tomb, we commit her spirit to our heavenly father who doeth all things well.
NOT DEAD; NOT LOST; NOT FAR
Not Dead!
No! No! not dead, just laid away from sight.
To slumber undisturbed through one long night,
Instead of many brief ones such as fall.
In swift recurrence o'er us one and all.
If thou art glad to lay thy weary head
Upon the pillow of thy nightly bed,
And lose thyself in slumber where fore weep.
When loved ones rest in nature's dreamless sleep?
Since now we wake when night has passed away
In the old likeness of the former days
May we not hope to see them face to face
Who in the churchyard have their resting place?
Believe the Master, o'er and o'er he said-
"Why weepest thou? Only asleep-
Not dead-not dead!"
The funeral services were held in Lithopolis Presbyterian Church, Rev. P. A. Bright, preaching the sermon. Burial was made in the Lithopolis cemetery.
We desire to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our relatives, friends and neighbors for the many kind acts and services rendered during the recent illness and at the time of the passing of our beloved wife and mother.
John F. Foor and Son, Francis.

OBIT: Circleville Herald, Circleville, Ohio, Feb. 3, 2007
Marguerite Kramer Huston Burkhart
Marguerite Kramer Huston Burkhart, 104, passed on Feb. 1, 2007. She was born June 13, 1902 to Clarence and Nell Kramer at Lithopolis on the spot where Wagnalls Memorial was later built in 1925. She played pipe organ there for dedications of two buildings and the 75th anniversary. Marguerite was a Pollyanna, blessed with excellent health and enjoyed life to the fullest. She attended Columbus 9th Avenue and Southwood elementaries and graduated from Columbus South High in 1918 and earned a B.S. in Music Education degree with a minor in French and English in 1923 at OSU, where she has continued her alumni membership. She taught music in Plain City, teaching the entire 12 grades vocal and instrumental. As she had been studying piano and organ, she decided to be a church and theater organist and a pianist for silent movies and taught many lessons over the years. She earned her tuition for college with her music. In Circleville, she was organist at the Presbyterian Church over 32 years and a member since 1935. On her retirement in 1979, she was honored with the title of Organist Emeritus with a dinner, ceremony and lovely red-bound "Resolution of Appreciation" album. Always active in civic affairs, Burkhart served as president of Monday Club and Child Conservation League. Known for her love of flowers, she was president of the Pickaway County Garden Club and Shawnee Flower Arrangers. She was a member of the Columbus Chapter of Ikebana International, Garden Club of Ohio and a master judge of the National Council of Flower Show Judges, American Guild of Organizers, Central Ohio Theatre Organ Society, Friends of WOSU, Friends of the Library and most recently, American Association of University Women. In 1929, she married Ted Lewis Huston of Canal Winchester, owner/operator of the Huston Grain Co. in Stoutsville, where they made their home for 31 years. Ted passed away in 1972 and in 1979, she married Maurice Burkhart, founder of Circle Plastics and composer of "The Punkin Show" song, "Circleville March" and other compositions. They spent their winters in Florida, where they joined a ballroom dance studio and also traveled the world. Maurice "Burk" passed in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wilbur and Ross Kramer, sister Dorothy Alter, twin daughters, Barbara Dickey and Beverly Tibbitts and great grandson, Kyle Knecht in 2004. Marguerite is survived by sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert Huston, a daughter, Pat (Ron) Knecht, seven grandchildren, Kirk (Valerie), Brad (Linda), Linda Tibbitts MacLennan, Thomas Tibbitts (Kristin), Cinde Tibbitts Nickelson, David Dickey Houston and Steven Dickey, 16 great grandchildren and special friend, Carol Ann Bowling. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Campbell officiating. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. A private family burial was held on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Lithopolis Cemetery. LOCATION: 1899 - A very enjoyable social gathering occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Foor, of near Abanaka, last Tuesday, February 28, the occasion being complimentary to Mrs. Foor as it was her fifty-ninth anniversary. The day came with clouds and rain but notwithstanding the inclement weather about 80 invited guests assembled at the Foor homestead and brought their presents, congratulations and best wishes. Before a late hour the tables were groaning under the burden of refreshments prepared by the genial hostesses and the guests were invited to partake. John Foor was called upon to officiate as master of ceremonies and in his usual happy manner made an amusing address. E. R. Shaffer responded in a few appropriate words and voiced the sentiment of the entire company in words of congratulation and good cheer. J. M. Dull was next called for, also W. H. Halderman. The people were kindly thanked for the compliment paid to Mrs. Foor by her husband, at the close of which J. Foor suggested they all join in prayer l ed by J. W. Shell. Mr. and Mrs. Foor have been blessed with 13 children, of whom all were present but one, Ella, her health not permitting her being present. Messrs. Henry and Frank F. and Mrs. Emma Murphy reside in Grover Hill, Augustus at Lima, John at Mercer, Burt at Ohio City, William near Dull, the rest of the family being at home. When the hour for departure came all thanked their entertainers for the pleasant evening. Mrs. Foor was the recipient of many nice presents, among them two handsome rockers presented by the children. All bade Mrs. Foor farewell wishing her many more such enjoyable birthdays. [Van Wert Times-Bulletin, Van Wert, Ohio, March 3, 1899]

Daughter of Laommi and Betsy (Townsend) Tower.
NATHANIEL D. TOWER,* a prominent farmer and stock raiser of Montana township, Labette county, Kansas, takes an intelligent interest in the leading questions of the day, and has deeply at heart the welfare of his section of the Sunflower State. Mr. Tower was born in Chenango county, New York, in 1839, and is a son of Loammi and Elizabeth (Townsend) Tower. Loammi Tower, who was by occupation a farmer, was born in Vermont, and his wife was a native of the Empire State. Seven children comprised the parental family, as follows: Polly (Shoe), of Illinois; Nathaniel D., the subject of these lines; Sarah (Fore), of Van Wert county, Ohio; Samuel; Mary and Matilda, who are deceased; and Timothy, who was killed in an engagement of the Civil War. Nathaniel D. Tower's parents removed to Ohio when he was five years old, and there he was educated in the public schools, and was prepared for the sober duties of life. In 1857, the family removed to Illinois, where, in Sangamon county, they continued to reside for a number of years, during which period Nathaniel followed carpenter work. In 1865, he left Illinois, traveled overland to Kansas, in company with Samuel Dunham, and located in Labette county. The following year (1866), he took up a claim in section 30, Montana township, having made proper, entry of it at Humboldt, Kansas, where the nearest land office was located.
