Friday, Nov. 20, 1914 - Mrs. Samantha STRUCKMAN, mother of William STRUCKMAN died at his home in Pleasant Valley today (Friday). She had recently moved on the farm from this city.

Saturday, Nov. 21, 1914 - Mrs. Samantha Struckman, 71, who died at the farm home east of Rochester Friday afternoon, was the wife of Daniel Struckman who was killed in Dec., 1910, by a maddened bull. Mr. and Mrs. Struckman were among the early settlers of this county and came here in 1864 after their marriage in 1861 in Lancaster county [sic], Ohio. They purchased the farm northeast of Rochester soon after coming to this county and on it they lived until death. Mrs. Struckman was the mother of four children, two of whom are living: William Struckman, who is now on the home place, and Mrs. Florence Carr, of the state of Washington. Two sons died when they were very you. Mrs. Struckman's death was caused by dropsy. She had been sick for over a year. Her maiden name was Miss Samantha Fenstemaker [sic] and she was born in Ohio in March 1843. Mrs. Struckman was a member of the Evangelical church of this city. She leaves one brother and two sisters living in Ohio. MRs. Struckman had made all arrangements for her funeral and several months before she died Mrs. Struckman picked out the songs, the verse in the Bible to preach about and had visited Rochester and picked out a cement vault. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Ev. church in this city. Rev. George Pullman will have charge. Burial at the Odd Fellows Cem.

Luree was a homemaker and worked at one time for Englander-Triangle Furniture and also for a food brokers. She was a former Scout Leader and volunteered at St. Columban Church library.

Luree enjoyed genealogy, board games, travel, puzzles and knitting for charity.

Gorby III, quietly and peacefully slipped away during the evening of April 12, 2008. Mac fought lymphoma cancer with amazing strength and dignity, finally leaving behind his pain and suffering. He was a beautiful person whose spirit inspired all who knew him. He willingly shared his bright smile and big heart with everyone. His many friends deeply loved and appreciated their time with him. Words cannot express the loss his family feels, but they have cherished memories to forever hold. He is preceded in death by his nephew Christopher H. Niple, grandmother Meda Belle Gorby and great-grandmother Maude Adams. He is survived by his partner of 7 years, Kenneth Buck; parents, Johnda and Dennis Haughn and McKimmie and Beth Gorby, III; grandmother, Betty Browning; sisters, Kelly Niple and Tiffany Gorby; brothers, Jeremiah and Justin Gorby; nieces, Jade, Emma, Kylie, Hope, and Madison; nephews, Nate, Jeremiah, and Ryan; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, along with numerous loving friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 17, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH, 43110. Flowers by Villfloral.com. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Eileen (Higgins) Kelly; children, Janet Kosmider, Macedonia, Carol (Charles) Ebert, Cummings, GA, Lois (Robert) Bottarini, Wilma (Thane) Hecox, both of Canal Winchester, William (Sally) Kelly, Duvall, WA, Richard (Marci) Kelly, Lancaster; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Booth, Chillicothe; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters Jane Kaminsky and Marie Hosack. Friends may visit 1-3 p.m. Monday at the DWAYNE R. [27422] Have not figured out who Geraldine is married to. There are two obits posted by Karen Jorgensen in July 2006 on the ancestry.com message boards. Both are obits for different ROGERS.

Larry C. Rogers, 61, of Koke Mill Road died at 3:50 p.m. Sunday at his residence. He was born May 19, 1927, in Greensburg, Ky., the son of Ernest G. and Fanny Pickett Rogers. He married Dolores Metzger in 1955. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Marty Rogers; and one brother, James C. Rogers. A resident of Springfield since 1939, Mr. Rogers was an executive II for the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was a member of St. Agnes Church and a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Dolores; two daughters, Mrs. Sheila Johnson of Rockford and Mrs. Mark (Janet) McCormick of Springfield; three sons, Larry C. Rogers Jr., Shawn Rogers and Brian Rogers, all of Springfield; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Tony (Geraldine) Foor of Yorba Linda, Calif., Mrs. Robert (Juanita) Branigan of Marietta, Ga., and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Estes of Springfield; one brother, Ernest G. Rogers of LaVern, Calif.; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Church, with the Rev. Patrick Wright officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James C. Rogers, 62, formerly of Springfield, died Dec. 31, 1986, in California. He was born in Columbia, Ky., on June 17, 1924, the son of Ernest and Fannie Pickett Rogers. He married Frances Ione Miller in 1975. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Frances; one daughter, Gloria and one son, James Jr., both of Orange, Calif.; one stepson, Robert E. Miller of Costa Mesa, Calif. and one stepdaughter, Mrs. John (Patricia) Buscetta of Farmingdale, N.Y.; two brothers, Ernest of LaVerne, Calif., and Larry of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Ray (Betty) Estes of Springfield, Mrs. Bob (Juanita) Branigan of Placentia, Calif., Mrs. Tony (Geri) Foor of Yorba Linda, Calif. Remains will be interred in Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Mrs. Minnie Foor, 87, of Route 2, Beaverton, died Wednesday at Bay
City Osteopathic Hospital after a 10-day illness.
Born in New York, July 29, 1876, she was a long-time resident of
Gladwin County.
Surviving are a son, William, of Saginaw; nine daughters, Mrs. Mabel
Spangler, of Pontiac, Mrs. Frona Pringle and Mrs. Flossie Waldvogle of
Merrill, Mrs. Maude Hudson , of Wheeler, Mrs. Mae Juras, of Saginaw,
Mrs. Ethel Stoker, of Washington, Ohio, Mrs. Loretta Miller of
Midland, Mrs. Marie Doane, of Beaverton, and Mrs. Viola Pease, of
Sanford; a brother, Elvin Turnbull, of Sanford; 40 grandchildren, 60
great grandchildren, and 25 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at noon at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church in Sanford with the Rev. Allen Peck officiating. Burial was in
the Nelson Cemetery, Saginaw, County. [Unknown Publication; unknown date].

1902 - Feb. 13th issue: Martha J. Alspaugh, nee Williamson, was born in Fairfield Co., Oct. 14, 1831, and died in Cowgill, MO., January 27, 1902. On April 15, 1851, she married Solomon Alspaugh and they lived in IL until about 1858, then moved to Ray Co., MO and to Cowgill around 1860. She was the mother of 3 sons and 8 daughters. Survived by husband, 2 sons, 4 daughters, and many grandchildren. Survived also by 2 sisters, Mrs. Laurinda Courtright of Paulding, Ohio, and Mrs. Zernah Coffman of Cowgill, and 3 brothers, Theodore Williamson of Hilliard, Ohio, Albert Williamson of near Royalton and Henry C.
