[12641] NAME/DOM/POM: Info submitted to LDS, unknown date, by James Leroy Fagan of Findlay, OH.

"Henry and Margaret Deeds, natives of Pennsylvania, removed to this township from Fairfield County, Ohio, in the fall of 1833, and settled in the northeast quarter of Section 12, entered by Mr. Deeds September 21, 1833. They reared a family of ten children, nine of whom survive and reside in this county. Mr. Deeds is yet living upon the old homestead where he and wife located over fifty-two years ago. His wife was blind several years before her death, which occurred January 26, 1886. Her bereaved husband, though bending under the weight of old age, is fond of speaking of those early days which they spent together in the rude log-cabin, living on the plainest fare, and surrounded by forest trees on every side." OBIT: Rochester Sentinel, Rochester, Indiana, Thursday, September 1, 1904

Margaret [LEONARD] HAIMBAUGH, relict of the late David HAIMBAUGH, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles LYNCH, near Grovertown, Wednesday August 31. The remains will be brought to the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. R. McCARTER, 2-1/2 miles northeast of this city, from which place the funeral will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. George DITIMAR officiating. Burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Five children survive: Mrs. J. A. FENSTEMAKER, Mrs. W. R. McCARTER, F. D. HAIMBAUGH, Mrs. Arthur LYNCH and Mrs. Charles LYNCH.

Margaret LEONARD was born in Augusta county, Virginia, September 15, 1825. While yet a child her parents moved to Fairfield county, Ohio where she was united in marriage to David HAIMBAUGH in 1844. In January 1863, removed to Fulton county, since which time she resided. When yet in the full vigor of young womanhood she united with the Lutheran church and was ever a faithful and consistent member.

Aunt Margaret, as everyone called her, was known to a host of faithful friends. An earnest helpmate, an indulgent mother and a kind hearted neighbor was her life history. Self sacrifices always, the race has been run, and the message of "well done thou faithful servant" has been received and heeded.

"Abraham Ordel, a successful farmer and stock-raiser, is pleasantly located on section 35, Philo township. He came here in 1871 and is in possession of 160 acres of choice land, under a good state of cultivation and supplied with convenient and substantial buildings. He became a resident of the Prairie State when a young man, twenty-one years old, but only remained two years when he returned to Fairfield County, Ohio, and was a resident there until 1871. His birth took place in Washington Co., MD., Jan. 8, 1831. His father, George Ordel, was a native of Germany, whence he emigrated to the United States early in life, and settling in Maryland, met and married Miss Catherine Baker, a native of his own country. They remained for a time in the latter-named State, where the father followed his trade of a weaver. In 1836 they removed with their children to Ohio, and settled on a farm in Franklin County, where both parents spent the remainder of their lives.

Upon first coming to this state our subject spent two years in Edwards and Tazewell Counties, then, returning to Ohio, was married in Fairfield County to Miss Mary J. Hoshor, who was born there Feb. 8, 1833. Her parents were Geroge and Mary (Litzenberger) Hoshor, natives of Pennsylvania, but of Germany ancestry. They removed to Ohio before their marriage, their wedding also taking place in Fairfield county. The father was born in 1800, followed farming all his life, and departed hence in 1882. The mother is yet living in Ohio. Mrs. O. was reared in her Native county and remained with her parents until her marriage. Of her union with our subject there were born nine children, two of whom, M. Catherine and Edward, are deceased. Those living are Ida B., and George, married, and John, Emma E., William H., Samuel and Franklin at home. After the marriage of our subject he settled with his wife upon a farm in Fairfield County, Ohio, where they remained until their removal to this State. They became residents of Champaign County in 1871, operating on rented land in Philo Township two years before the purchase of their present homestead. Both are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of Raymond Township, of which Mr. O. is Trustee. Politically he uniformly casts his vote in support of the principles of the Democratic party. Philo [Champaign Co., IL] Area Centennial, 1875-1975, Illinois Historical Survey

"Abraham Ordel Family

Abraham Ordel was born in Maryland, January 8, 1831. He was married to Mary Jane Hoshor at Lockville, Ohio, March 30. 1854.

They moved to Illinois in the fall of 1870 with their family of seven children in a covered wagon. They settled and built a home on a farm
three miles south of Philo where they farmed. Two more boys were born to this union in Illinois: Charles, May 21, 1872 and Franklin, July 31, 1875. They lost four of their children when they were young: Catherine 1855-1875; Charles 1972-1881 ; Ida 1856-1888; Emma, 1863-1894.
The other five boys all lived to a ripe old age and were all farmers, John, William, Samuel and Frank in the Philo community and George in In-
diana. Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Ordel celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary' March 30, 1904.

Mrs. Ordel died January 19, 1907, after a long illness. Mr. Ordel died as he drove home from getting the mail in Philo in his horse and buggy
on a hot afternoon July 2, 1909."
