LOCATION: 1946 - The Barndollar Methodist Church was the scene of a beautiful wedding on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, when Helen Virginia Hershberger became the bride of Elmer W. Foor, Jr., both prominent young people in Everett. The pastor of the church, Rev. Henry B. Reiley, Jr., officiated using the double-ring ceremony, in the presence of the immediate family. The bride was attractively attired in a blue street length dress with brown accessories ...Both the bride and groom are graduates of the Everett High school and took active parts in school and local activities. Mrs. Foor is a graduate of the Lancaster General Hospital school of Nursing, Class of 1945, and up until several weeks ago had been employed in the York hospital. Mr. Foor after graduating entered the army and severed 22 months in the Air Corps, being discharged several months ago. Mrs. Foor is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hershberger, Everett, and Mr. Foor is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer W. Foor, Sr., Everett. Immediately following the ceremony the happy couple left on a wedding trip to the Southern States. A memorial service will be conducted for Dorothy Jean (Hummell) Schlesselman Oyler, 89, of 3800 Boardwalk Blvd., Sandusky, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Salem United Methodist Church, 807 Wayne St., Sandusky, with Pastor Anna Wargo and Pastor Donald Brown officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Lithopolis Cemetery, Lithopolis, with Pastor Jeff Gill officiating.
Dorothy died Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Stein Hospice Care Center. She was born April 20, 1917, in Columbus, and graduated from East High School in 1937. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Otterbein College in 1937 and her master's degree from the University of Toledo in 1967. Dorothy taught for Kelleys Island Schools for two years and Margaretta Schools for 16 years and was a guidance counselor for Watkins Memorial High School in Licking County for five years.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Sandusky, and a former member of Hebron Christian Church. She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Hebron Lioness Club, Licking County Farm Bureau, Parkvue Red Hatters and welcomed new residents at the Community at Parkvue. Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed traveling, reading, being with her family and spending the winters in Texas.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Donald P. (Carol) Schlesselman, of Nashport, and Richard L. (Cathy) Schlesselman, of Castalia; a stepdaughter, Joy Crossnoe, of Arlington, Texas; a stepson, Frank Oyler, of Denver; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Laura) Schlesselman, of New Albany, Elizabeth (Brenton) Baker, of Zanesville, Heidi Schlesselman, of Hilliard, Gretchen (Cork) Moore, of Berlin Heights, and Salle (Dustin) Beckwith, of Hayward, Wis.; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Roberta Beckman, of North Olmsted; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Schlesselman; her second husband, Clayton Oyler; her parents, Robert and Ella (Storts) Hummell; one grandson, Andrew Schlesselman; one stepgrandson, Michael Oyler; and two sisters, Mary Rainier and Hazel Heishman.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Salem United Methodist Church, 807 Wayne St., Sandusky. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870; Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 488, Sandusky; Community at

Not sure I agree with the date of birth as it's about 10 years later than what censuses show. Maybe the date of birth should be Dec. 13, 1853 rather than the 1863 these records show.
