1999 - "Pastor Linda Foor and her husband, Robert, had weekend guests this past week. Two seminary students from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary stayed with them. The two students attended the Sunday morning service at the Nichols Christian Church and planned to attend a worship service in Muscatine. The Rev. Dien is from Nigeria, Africa. He is a pastor in Nigeria, serving five churches and ministering to an estimated 1,000 people. He travels between his churches by car or motorcycle. He had an unfortunate experience with ice in Dubuque this past winter. He slipped and fell and broke both wrists. One wrist is completely healed but the other is only partially healed." [West Liberty newspaper, West Liberty, IA, April 1, 1999].
1999 - "A farewell potluck dinner for Pastor Linda Foor will be held Sunday, May 2, 11:30 a.m. at the Nichols Christian Church. Pastor Foor will be doing her clinical pastoral education program this summer at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport. Pastor Foor felt this was an intensive program and she could not do justice to both the clinical education and her church ministry. An open invitation is extended to any who would like to extend good wishes to Pastor Foor." [West Liberty newspaper, West Liberty, IA, Apr. 29, 1999]
2000 - "Linda Bothell Foor is now the Christian Education Youth Director at First Church United. She is very close to finishing school and being an ordained minister. She and her husband Bob live in Muscatine." [West Liberty Newspaper, West Liberty, IA, Sept 6, 2000]
2001 - "Members of the Kiwala Chime Choir and a number of other members of First Church United went to Muscatine Sunday afternoon for the service of Ordination of Linda Bothell Foor. The choir sang with the Christian Church choir and the Chime Choir took part in the service at the First Christian Church on Kindler Avenue in Muscatine." [West Liberty newspaper, West Liberty, IA, Jan. 11, 2001].
2002 - Article talks about the 60th wedding anniversary of Floyd and Barbara Bothell. They had 5 ch; one being Rev. Linda (Bob) Foor of Muscatine. [West Liberty newspaper, West Liberty, IA, Jan. 10, 2002].
The following is an excerpt of an article published in the Muscatine Journal, July 31, 2001:
The Rev. Linda Foor, 52, and retired Wilton High School teacher Bob Foor, 58, were married five years when her life took a new direction.
Before her career change, Linda Foor was secretary to the late Max Stanley of Stan-ley Consultants. She then worked with his son David Stanley as office manager/ administrative assistant for E and M Charities.
Her husband said her willingness to take a significant pay cut and embark on a new education evidenced her commitment.
Bob Foor came from a Missouri Synod Lutheran background where there weren't women in the pulpit.
But his years as a teacher and volunteer coach gave him a different perspective.
"I was a girls' coach in golf and basketball and I know women can do things as well as men," he said.
Bob Foor continued teaching school in Wilton as his wife commuted to the University of Dubuque for four and a half years to complete her seminary degree.
She was ordained in January 2001 and now serves as Christian education director/ youth pastor at First Church United in West Liberty.
Bob Foor said he discovered another dimension to a wife he thought of as "quiet."
He found her congregational addresses forthright and thought provoking.
"Just as she has never been with me in the classroom, I'd never seen her in the pulpit," he said. "You don't always see the professional side of your spouse."
Jim Renfro said he was moved the first time he heard Nancy Renfro speak as a lay minister in 1994.
"I knew she was going into the ministry," he said
