[T8613] NOTE: I believe the date of death in this biography is wrong for Daniel, as I found him in 1850 and 1860 census's with the children listed in the bio. Believe the date is probably 1869.

"At the age of ten years he was brought to Ohio by his parents, who located in Fairfield county, and there he learned the carpenter's trade... " ".. the the union of Daniel and Elizabeth were born 14 children in the following order: Elisabeth, died in infancy; Amos, a retired farmer of Wells county, IN, Jesse, deceased; Abraham B., an old settler of Van Wert county, Ohio; Nancy, widow of Jacob Richmond, of Perry county; Christine, deceased; Moses, deceased; Jeremiah, farmer, of Licking county; Henry K., farmer of Perry count;, DeLeslie, who died in infancy, Samuel, farmer of Perry county; Joe, reform minister, of Illinois; Sophia, wife of John Castanian, farmer of Wyandot county, and Daniel, who died in infancy. After his marriage Daniel Alspach settled in Jefferson township, Fairfield county, where he followed his trade as carpenter until 1825, when he bought a farm which he cleared up from the woods and resided on for five years; in 1830 he sold and moved to Perry county, and on this he made his home until his death, which occurred April 5, 1839; his widow survived until June 21, 1878...", "A Portrait and Biographical Record of Mercer and Van Wert Counties, Ohio", A. [T46123] "I am looking for information on an Alice Foor who was married to Frank Whitehouse. Not sure of the date of marriage, but they were married in 1933, so may have married in 1932 or 1933. It was a short marriage of only a couple years, not sure if she died or they divorced.

I am the grand neice of Frank and I am working on the family tree and having trouble getting any info on her. I don't believe they had any children. Frank was from Ky, but also spent time in Indiana/chicago area. Not sure where he may have met and married her. Any info you have would be appreciated.

Thanks

[T99132] Tombstone photo submitted by Carol Schleich to findagrave.com in April 2006
shows one stone with the name DOWNS at top. At left is James A. 1926-1978,
and on right is Leota J. 1924-1999.

NOTE: I could not find any "DOWNS" in the Ohio deaths searchable at ancestry.com, and no Leota Downs is listed in the SSDI. The only DOWNS who was born the year 1924 and died the year 1999 were three listings, all male. I searched on any Leota 1924-1999 and came up with Leota J. Michel, born 13 Aug 1924 died 09 Aug 1999, last known address of Columbus, Franklin Co., OH. I then found a Leota Josephine Michel with same dates, born in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, resided there, died at home at age 74, father's surname HAVELY, mother's LANNING. Ancestry.com and Ohio Department of Health. Ohio Deaths, 1908-1944 and 1958-2002 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: The Generations Network, Inc., 2006.

Leota must have married again after being widowed, but is not buried with the MICHEL surname. She is buried beside husband and shares his stone with no mention of MICHEL on it.

SSDI - name shown as Leota J. Michel, 13 Aug 1924 - 09 Aug 1999, last known address as Columbus, Franklin Co., OH.
