NAME: "Churchbooks of the Betzer Union/Zion Reformed Church, 1817-1881, Bloom
Township,, Fairfield Co., OH", Fairfield Co., Ohio, Chapter OGS, 1994, p 44.
OBIT: After only a week's illness and without warning of the final stroke, Mrs. Soloman L. Hummell passed away at her home in Eagle township, Monday night at 10:30 o'clock aged 72 years and nearly two months. She leaves her husband and three children, Clifford E. and Edison A., of Eagle township, and Mrs. A. B. Walters, of this city. There are also two grandchildren, Mary Hummell and Mildred Walters. Mrs. J. E. Kieffer of 203 East Lincoln street, is a sister of the deceased. The funeral will be held from the family residence on Thursday forenoon at ten o'clock, services to be conducted by Rev. Passold, her pastor, and interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery. Mrs. Hummell was born October 18, 1838, in Fairfield county, Ohio, and came to Hancock county with her husband and children April 5, 1869, locating on the farm where she resided until her death, a period of nearly forty-two years. She had been a member of Zion Lutheran church, in Eagle township, for many years. She was married May 13, 1858, to Solomon L. Hummell, and they celebrated their golden anniversary two years ago last May. Her death was as peaceful as was her peaceful life - free from pain or worry. The end was not anticipated by her loved ones, who were inexpressibly shocked to find her passing beyond the shadows when they approcahed her bedside on Monday night after a momentary absence. Although not in robust health for two years past, she had been confined to her bed but a week, and her taking off was as unexpected as it was sudden. [info posted in the Dec. 2006 gedcom submission of Craig Kieffer to rootsweb.com]
