Pension Claim of Delilah Foor, widow of Jesse W. FOOR, Private Co C 10th Ohio C cavalry - Tower Hill, Shelby Co Illinois, "I am a sister of the above named
Delilah FOOR whose maiden name was Swanders and I knew her and her husband, the said soldier, Jesse W. FOOR, before they were married to each other when they were young people in Ohio. I have known both of them all their lives. That they were married in Fairfield county, Ohio, on or about Christmas Day 1862, just at the time when he was leaving to go into the army. Neither one of them had been previously married, but both were single when they were united in marriage and there was no reason why they could not be married to each other. During all their married life at no time they were never separated or divorced but always lived together as husband and wife. Shortly after the war was over they moved to Shelby county, IL, as I did. They were living together in Shelby county when he died on or about May 20, 1916. Since his death she has not remarried, but is still his widow. I know these facts because of personal acquaintance with the parties all these years", signed "X" (her mark), Leah RIEGEL, aged 73 years.

NAME: "Fairfield County Wills and Estate Abstracts, Cases 1-500", Fairfield County Gen. Society, April 1996, p 44. Mentioned as one of the children. In 1827, Peter LONG became his guardian.
"In 1824 when his father died Daniel R. was only 10 years old. He was apprenticed to a carpenter and made coffins; he did not like the trade and later became a travelling clock mender. He acquired land in Lithopolis, Ohio in 1837. The story is told, by his grandson Robert W. Patridge, that because he travelled about the countryside his wife Martha found water a problem to get for her family. Daniel invented a pump from wood and leather to make this task easier for his wife. His neighbors also wanted pumps for their wives and so began the business which he and his son, Daniel R., Jr., operated at the time of the father's death. Two other sons, Henry and L. L. L. operated a similar business in Dayton, Ohio." L. L. L. went to Petosky, MI and Henry converted the Dayton business into a bicycle shop. The family moved from Lithopolis to Columbus about 1856.
