Investigation is continuing into the death of a 15year-old Gladwin youth who was struck by a car on S. M-18 Saturday night after running into the road.
Patrick Haines a Gladwin High School sophomore, was attending a wedding reception at the K of C Hall, 751 S. M-18 about 11:45 P.M. Saturday when he ran into the road, said Gladwin Sheriff's officers. The youth was struck by a car driven by Gary D. Hawks, Jr., 16 of Beaverton.
Deputies said Hawks, who was heading south, was unable to avoid hitting Haines. The victim was taken to the Gladwin Area Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:45 A.M. Sunday.
Hawks and a passenger, a 16-year-old Beaverton girl who was not identified, were treated for minor injuries at Gladwin Hospital and Released.

OBIT: Mrs. Caroline (Catherine?) Foor, wife of William Foor, died at the family home one-half mile south of Athens, Wednesday afternoon. The direct cause of death was apoplexy, although Mrs. Foor had been an invalid for several months, as she was stricken with paralysis last November and never fully regained her health. Mrs. Foor was well known throughout the county as a Christian woman and had a large circle of friends who will mourn her death. Catherine Hoffman was born in Miami County, Ohio, Dec. 6, 1841. She came to this county with her parents when 12 years old, and in 1859 united in marriage with William Foor. To this union two sons were born, Alfred H. and William, both residents of this county. The funeral services will be conducted at the home at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon by Rev. J. D. Kruwel of the Methodist church of this city. The body will be laid to rest in the Rochester mausoleum. [Rochester Sentinel, Rochester, IN, Friday, Aug. 2, 1912]

PATE Baby Aidan Jensen Pate, age 2 months, received his wings Friday August 10, 2007, in his mother's arms at Children's Hospital, Columbus. Aidan was a preemie, being born at 24 weeks, weighing 1 lb. 8 oz. He was an extremely strong baby. He surpassed obstacles that no one should ever have to come across. Sadly, his heart was too big for his body and he became an angel. He was deeply loved by his family, nurses, and everyone who knew him. He was born May 29, 2007, at Riverside Hospital, the son of Ben Pate and Jennifer Miller. He is also survived by his grandparents, Theresa Pennington, Colleen Brown and Kevin Pate; his great-grandparents, Virginia Miller and Lillian Brown; his aunts and uncle, Lilianne, Brittany and David Pate; as well as so many family and friends.
