Monday, December 24, 1928
The many relatives and friends of Ezra ALSPACH, aged 70, life long resident of this community, were shocked to learn of his sudden death which occurred at ten o'clock Saturday night at his home three miles north of the city on State Road [U.S.] 31, death being due to a heart attack. Mr. Alspach who has been in ill health for several years, had been enjoying better health than usual during the last few months until Saturday noon when he was suddenly taken very ill. However, his condition was not considered serious until he suffered the fatal attack a few minutes before his death.
Mr. Alspach was born on June 14, 1858 on the old Alspach homestead southeast of the city, the son of Henry and Deborah ALSPACH. On December 31st, 1885 he was married to Sarah LOWE and their entire married life has been spent on the same farm south of the city.
He was a member of the K. of P. Lodge and attended the Presbyterian Church in this city. Surviving are his wife, one son, Claude [ALSPACH}, two granddaughters, Edith [ALSPACH] and Myra ALSPACH, and two sisters Mrs. Sarah MILLER, of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mrs. Louiza MILLER, of Peru, Ind.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home with Rev. Daniel S. PERRY in charge, and burial will be made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. [Rochester Sentinel, Rochester, Indiana - as published on the Fulton Co., Indiana website].

NOTE: I'm a little stumped by this Kenneth Christian. I couldn't find any Christian in the Ohio death index who died in May 2000 except for James Ernest Christian, b 1951 who died in Cuyahoga Co., and Mitch Christian b 1917 who died in Summit Co., Ohio. I couldn't find any Christian who died in May 2000 with the last known address in the state of Ohio in the SSDI. I also couldn't find any Kenneth Christian in either of these databases who died in May, regardless of the year. My guess is that I either mis-typed this info back in 2002 when I abstracted it, or perhaps Kenneth was a middle name and his legal/public name was different.

I have a hand written letter from my great great uncle, David Forrest Foor (1868-1949) that indicates that David Young Foor (his father) was born in Brown County, Ohio (1824-1889) to an old German by the name of Foor (am suspecting this is Joseph), who after his first family were grown married an Irish girl by the name of O'Riley (her father a revolutionary soldier who as a great admirer of Gen. Washington, and was with him at Valley Forge).
David Young Foor married Jedida Birdsel in Ohio. Her father was an English Quaker. Her maiden name was Butler. David Young was an apprentice to a cabinet maker in Cincinnati, Ohio and in his early 20's opened the first furniture store in Covington, Kentucky (1846 or 47). We have a bed he made. Have passed it down to my brother's son.
In 1853 David Young sold the store and moved to Lewis County, Missouri and homesteaded 120 acres and lived there until his death.
David Young and Jedidah had 9 children (I only have 8 names)" From Betty FOOR, d/o Harry Lee Foor, via Sept. 2006 email.

"I have a group sheet and have corresponded with Carolyn Caroll about Catherine. She was Catherine Leader, daughter of Henry Leader. She first married a man named Ford and then married Jacob Foor Jr. Her sister, Elizabeth Leader married Ezekiel Cook." From email with Linda Garrett, 9/1998.
Linda Garrett submitted some cemetery inscriptions to "Bedford County, PA Pioneer Family Lineages and Outlines" "Bedford County, PA Ancestor Connection" website. She submitted photos of the cemetery and states that it is located on "the original Foor homestead", though she does not know who owns the land now. The cemetery contains 10-15 graves, one in which is Catherine Leader Foor, (1798-1872) [Note, I have the date of 1882].
