NAME/DOB/POB: From Sharon Butch Freeland, Jan. 2001, ancestry.com website. Data not documented.

"Samuel Cofman, the grandfather of our subject, was the only son of John Cofman, and he, too, was identified with the pioneer development in Fairfield county. He was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, and in 1809 became a resident of Lancaster, Ohio. He learned the carpenter's trade and in connection with his building interests also carried on agricultural pursuits. He likewise taught school and later was engaged in the nursery business. When a boy, he had been bound out to a man by the name of Carpenter and under his direction learned the carpenter's trade. He was very energetic and industrious and his knowledge of the building industry enabled him to bring his talents to advantage on his own account and keep everything about the place in excellent condition. He too voted the Whig ticket. In early manhood he wedded Mary Allen, who died in 1841 at the age of thirty-two years. Seven children were born unto them, but Henry Cofman, the father of our subject, is the only one now living. Samuel Cofman was commissioned second lieutenant in the Mexican war and was an excellent military officer. He was identified with the Methodist Episcopal church on the circuit of Lockville, Jefferson and Rock mill, and afterward became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Carroll. He was born in 1811 and died in 1883, having spent the greater part of his life in Bloom township. A Biographical record of Fairfield and Perry Counties, Ohio. New York: S.J. Clarke Pub. THE DATABASE RECORDS OF John Fuhr, b 1771, who already had parents listed -- and that of Johannes FOOR/FUHR/FUHRER, b abt 1771 who m Julianna, have been combined. Previously John FUHR b 1771 had no descendants listed, and seemed to drop off the Northhampton records about 1819. We feel that this is the same John who took his family to Fairfield County, Ohio, and therefore, the individuals have been merged into one.

[T106236] 1971 - Marriage Licenses applied for: Russell O. Oyler, 62, helper, 98 S.
30th St., to Mary K. Rine, 40, 155 Essex St. [Newark Advocate, Newark, Ohio,
June 1, 1971]

NOTE: In Mary's 1971 marriage license, her name is listed as Mary Rine, which means she was already married to a Rine and possibly may have divorced him as he's not mentioned as a surviving NOR a deceased husband in her obit. Two deceased husbands are, though: Russell Oyler and John Devoll. But then that doesn't explain why, after the death of at least Russell Oyler (unknown when she married John Devoll), why she reverted back to a prior married name of Rine.

OBIT: Mary K. Rine
Feb. 22, 1931-Aug. 31, 2006

A celebration of life service for Mary K. Rine, 75, of Newark, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, with Pastor Bryan K. Grove officiating. Burial will be at Wilson Cemetery.

Mrs. Rine was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Sunbury to the late Chester and Katherine (McFarland) Mears. She passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at her residence in Newark.

She was a member of Maple Avenue Christian Union Church. She also attended the Old Country Church.

Survivors include her three loving children, Rick Rine, Kathy Harless and Babby Rine, all of Newark; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven brothers, John, Joe, Jim, David, Jerry, Bobby and Mark Mears; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Russell Oyler and John Devoll; three sisters, Pat Parker, Donna Mears and Barb Foreman; two nieces, Sandra Foreman and Jeanie Burns; and brother-in-law, Gene Parker.

[T58568] MAIDEN NAME/DOB/POB/DOD/POD/DOM: From info submitted to the LDS by Jeffrey Manton Meadows of Liberty, TX, and Delna POWELL of Lake Montezuma, AZ; submission dates unk. Info NOT DOCUMENTED! Info submitted by above also show more children than shown here, including a child named Henry b 1815 and one named Mary b 1817 who are shown as siblings, same parents, and married to each other in 1900 (????). Info is skeptical and anyone reading this wanting more information should use information on this family as a guide only and re-document all information.

NOTE: Four of this individual's children were baptised in "Zion Lutheran and Reformed" church in Bloom twp., Fairfield Co., OH. According to the transcription of the baptismal records, their father's name was "Sebastian". Finding information on a "Sebastian Nicodemus" has not been fruitful, however, I have seen much 'published' research on the Internet showing that an individual named Valentine Nicodemus was in the same area at the same time and had several children -- four of them being the ones named here with the same approximate dates of birth (sometimes they vary by one year, but have the same month and day of birth). Therefore, I have put in Valentine Sebastian as this individual's full name. Perhaps the transcriber to the baptismal records incorrectly transcribed the records, or perhaps it was a middle name he went by.
