The many relatives and friends of Ezra ALSPACH, aged 70, life long resident of this community, were shocked to learn of his sudden death which occurred at ten o'clock Saturday night at his home three miles north of the city on State Road [U.S.] 31, death being due to a heart attack. Mr. Alspach who has been in ill health for several years, had been enjoying better health than usual during the last few months until Saturday noon when he was suddenly taken very ill. However, his condition was not considered serious until he suffered the fatal attack a few minutes before his death.
Mr. Alspach was born on June 14, 1858 on the old Alspach homestead southeast of the city, the son of Henry and Deborah ALSPACH. On December 31st, 1885 he was married to Sarah LOWE and their entire married life has been spent on the same farm south of the city.
He was a member of the K. of P. Lodge and attended the Presbyterian Church in this city. Surviving are his wife, one son, Claude [ALSPACH}, two granddaughters, Edith [ALSPACH] and Myra ALSPACH, and two sisters Mrs. Sarah MILLER, of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mrs. Louiza MILLER, of Peru, Ind.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home with Rev. Daniel S. PERRY in charge, and burial will be made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. [Rochester Sentinel, Rochester, Indiana - as published on the Fulton Co., Indiana website].

"The family name of Gramlich was soon anglicised by its bearers to Crumley".
"Genealogical Abstracts from The Lancaster (Ohio) Gazette, V3, 1885-1890", Fairfield County Gen., Society, July 1998, p 44 mentions that Valentine had 5 ch: George, Paul, Daniel, Anna and Christian. Christian is the one who came to Ohio and settled in Bloom township.

OBIT: Mrs. Grace Anderson, 82, died today at 5:15 a.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ransil McDaniel, Rt. 2, Baltimore, following an extended illness. She also leaves a brother, John S. Graybill, Lancaster; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; nephew, 2 nieces; several stepchildren. Funeral, Friday 1:30 p.m., Harold E. Weaver Funeral Home, Baltimore, Rev. Raymond Dunlap officiating; burial Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Mill. [Lancaster Eagle Gazette, Lancaster, Ohio, April 16, 1963]
NOTE: In searching for her cemetery inscription in the cemetery inscription book, I found no Grace ANDERSON. Since step-children were mentioned in her obit, I decided to look for any Grace buried in that cemetery who died in 1963 thinking she may be buried with a prior husband. I believe--since the years match-- that the woman listed as "Grace A. DELL, mother, 1881-1963" is the one mentioned in this obit. "Cemeteries of Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH", Fairfield County Gen. "I have a group sheet and have corresponded with Carolyn Caroll about Catherine. She was Catherine Leader, daughter of Henry Leader. She first married a man named Ford and then married Jacob Foor Jr. Her sister, Elizabeth Leader married Ezekiel Cook." From email with Linda Garrett, 9/1998.
Linda Garrett submitted some cemetery inscriptions to "Bedford County, PA Pioneer Family Lineages and Outlines" "Bedford County, PA Ancestor Connection" website. She submitted photos of the cemetery and states that it is located on "the original Foor homestead", though she does not know who owns the land now. The cemetery contains 10-15 graves, one in which is Catherine Leader Foor, (1798-1872) [Note, I have the date of 1882].

NOTE: This is very unusual. This says Ira Nutter, not Alonzo. Alonzo Nutter apparently married an Emma Wright according to some death certificates of their children. One child was Alice Cora Nutter who was born 15 May 1880 in Lancaster, Ohio, died Feb. 4, 1939 in Zanesville, Ohio, and according to her death certificate her parents were Alonzo Nutter and Emma Wright. Alonzo and Emma did reside for quite some time in Zanesville. And his brother Ira appears in Berne township in this census year. In other words, this APPEARS to be the census listing for Alonzo Nutter... as to why it has his brother's name listed instead of his own, is curiously unknown.
1892 - Alonzo Nutter, a foreman at the Bent Works recieves severe injuries. Yesterday afternoon about 2:30 o'clocl Alonzo Nutter, a foremat at the Bent Wood Works, while arranging a shaping machine, sustained a very seriously injured hand. While bending down to adjust a lever in order to lower the table upon which he was working, the machinery accidently flew into gear and the chipping plane turned around catching his right hand, and lacerating it in a desperate manner. The leaders and muscles of the fore and middle fingers were torn to the bones and the other fingers were hurt less severely. His injuries received immediate surgical attention and the wounded hand was dressed. It will be some time however before he will be able to use it. [Daily Advocate, Newark, Ohio, Feb. 23, 1892]
1894 - "Alonzo Nutter, general foreman of the Bent Works Company, was called to Lancaster today on business". [Newark Daily Advocate, Newark, Ohio, July 14, 1894]

1894 - Alonzo Nutter, general foreman of the Baltimore Bent Works, has returned home after a very successful business trip for the company. [Daily Advocate, Newark, Ohio, Sept. 15, 1894]
1895 - Alonzo Nutter, general foreman of the Baltimroe Bent Wood Works, has recently invented a machine that is used in cutting scrolls on carriage and spring wagon gear woods. The machine completes the scroll nicely and woriks with perfect success. It is proving to be of great value to the Bent Works Company [Daily Advocate, Newar, Ohio, Jan. 11, 1895]

1911 - The 67th session of the Indiana general assembly started on it's sixty-day grind today, when both houses met... On the speaker's desk was a huge bouquet of roses presented by republicans and democrats of the First district. Mrs. B. E. Bacon, of Evansville, and Mrs. J. Delbert Foor, of Blackhawk, Vigo county, were among the women at the opening of the house and were early to congratulate Speaker Veneman. Mrs. Bacon is here to look after her interest in the housing bill. Mrs. Foor is the wife of the Vigo county representative. [Fort Wayne Sentinel, Fort Wayne, IN., Jan. 5, 1911]

NOTE that Leora is listed as single, not divorced or married. My guess at this time is that they were divorced since her husband didn't die supposedly until 1943. Often divorced women listed themselves as single. Her husband is still living in Terre Haute, Vigo Co., IN in 1930 and is listed as married.
