"John Bradley, son of Henry and Mary Bradley, was born 10 Sept. 1838. His certificate of Birth and Baptism, which is ornamented with crude drawings of angels, birds and flowers and several pious poems, reads: 'To these two persons Henry Bradley and his Wife Marietta, a daughter of Philip Glick... was born a Son on the 10th day of September... 1838. This child was born in Bloomtownship [sic] Fairfield County... Ohio; was baptized by the Rev. John Wagenholtz and received the name of John. Witness present at the act of baptism were Jonathan Glick and his wife Catharina.' Jonathan Glick was a brother of Philip Glick.
John was quite young when his parents took him and his three brothers, Andrew, James Monroe and Philip to Miami County, Indiana, and still quite young when his father brought him and his brothers back to Ohio after his mother's death in 1844. In the census of 1850 John is listed in the household of his grandfather, Philip Glick, in Fairfield County, Amanda Township. He was then 12 years old. As he grew older he felt drawn to Miami County, where he had stayed so briefly with his father and mother. He went to the home of his uncle and aunt, Michael and Leah (Glick) Bradley in Butler Township, where he stayed 'three or four years' (statement ot me of his eldest son Charles E. Bradley). John then returned to Ohio, where he married Margaret Sharp of Pickaway County 13 Feb. 1862. Although the license was obtained in Pickaway County, the couple were married by the Rev. John E. Wood at Lithopolis, Fairfield County. Margaret, born 05 Nov 1842, was the daughter of William and Mary (Teegardin) Sharp.
The first child of the couple, Charles, was born in Lithopolis 18 February 1863. Their second child, Oscar, was born in Waupecong, Miami Co., Indiana, Clay Township, 02 July 1865. So the date of the settlement of John and Margaret in Waupecong would have had to be between February 1863 and July 1865. John engaged in the lumber business. For a certain length of time he was a partner in a gernal store with his youngest brother Philip. Probably about 1871 or 1872 he moved his family from Waupecong to the village of Rich Valley in Wabash County where he continued in the lumber business. In 1880 John moved his family into the town of Wabash, on Falls Avenue, but he continued to maintain his lumber business and sawmill in Rich Valley. John and Margaret (Sharp) Bradley had the following children, Charles Earl, Oscar Eugene, William Henry, Allen Marshall, Chester Cortice, Bertha Alice, Clarence Aaron, John Vern and Maggie Ozilla Bradley. Charles was born in Lithopolis, Ohio. Oscar, William, Allen and Chester were born in Waupecong. The rest of the children were born in Rich Valley, except Clarence, who said that he was born in Howard County. William Henry died in early childhood. Maggie Ozilla, born 1880, died that same year.
The census of 1880 shows that John Bradley's half-sister, Ozilla Bradley, age 20, was living with the family. Shortly after the family moved to Wabash, Margaret Bradley died (14 Jun 1880). With the help of Ozilla and another half-sister, Alice Bradley, John was able to maintain a home for his motherless children. On 14 November 1882, while he was loading lumber onto a flat car at Rich Valley, John was dragged under the wheels of a passing freight train by a broken telegraph wire, horribly mangled and almost immediately killed (Wabash PLAIN DEALER, 17 Nov 1882). The John Bradley household was shattered beyond repair. Charles, age 19, who had worked for a druggist in Rich Valley, was working in a drugstore in Wabash. Oscar, aged 17, who had worked i nhis father's lumber business, obtained a position with a lumber firm in Peru, Indiana. Allen, age 13, went to live at the home of Dr. Ebenezer F. Donaldson, a Wabash physician, to take care of the horses, drive the doctor on his rounds and to make himself generally useful around the doctor's house and office. The other children, whose ages ranged from 6 -12 years, were taken in by relatives", "The Descendants of John Bradley (1783-1860) and Joanna (Fitzgerald) Bradley (1786-1864)", Dr. Chester Bradley, Hampton, VA, 1975, p 196.

May have died before 1904, as husband is shown in the 1910 census married to someone else for 6 years.
(left blank), farm laborer
NOTE: in the 1910 census, Elnora's husband, Henry March, is married to someone else and his children are living with him. Because the children are with him, my guess is that Elnora may have died prior to the taking of the 1910 census. There is an Elnora March listed as 31 years old who died in Logansport, Cass Co., IN on April 11, 1902. This may be the same Elnora March.
"Nathan Rawn was married February 11, 1866 to Laura Coffman, daughter of Samuel and Jane (Allen) Coffman. She was born January 29, 1846, in Fairfield County. The children who blessed their home are: Mary Jane, by whom she has one child, Verna M., who lives with her parents; Alice, who was born September 13, 1868, married John Bowers March t, 1888, and is the mother of four children, -- Harry, born April 6, 1889; Myrtle, born February 11, 1891; Arthur, born February 6, 1893; and Ray, born August 21, 1898 -- Nora Rawn, the third child, was born July 4, 1870, and married Henry March, September 6, 1888: they have three children, -- Charles, born in June 1889; Carl, born June 18, 1891, and Rosie, born in November 1893."
"Nathan Rawn, a soldier in the Civil War, is a man to whose enterprising and progressive disposition the State of Indiana is deeply indebted for much of her present prosperity. It was our subject who braved the displeasure and deep-seated prejudice existing among the early settlers against tiling, and he converted a tract of undesirable, low, swampy land into a farm of great productiveness, and is among the leading farmers in Pulaski County, Indiana, whose opinion is respected and followed by his less experienced neighbors.
He was born February 23, 1839, on a farm in Greenfield Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, and a son of Joseph and Mary (Fisher) Rawn. Joseph Rawn, Sr., his grandfather..."
From the Rawn message board at ancestry.com 23 Oct 2007: The Myrtle (child of Alice Rawn) that is mentioned in the biography;
"Alice, who was born September 13, 1868, married John Bowers March t, 1888, and is the mother of four children, -- Harry, born April 6, 1889; Myrtle, born February 11, 1891; Arthur, born February 6, 1893; and Ray, born August 21, 1898 -- "
should not be Myrtle. This child was actually a male child named Murl. He was born Feb 10, 1891 in Pulaski county, indiana and died in june 1970. He was married to Ocie Lowrie on October 20, 1914 in Pulaski county, and had at least one child named Sylvia.
I do not descend from murl, but just wanted to set the record straight as it is sometimes very difficult to correct a written record."
