1926 - see notes on son Thomas Dwight. He was married and filed for divorce. Being a minor, his mother was the 'next friend' when he filed in court.

1930 - some time between 1926 and 1930 Dora must've married a Moore. At the time I found this census, I figured she must've died prior to her husband's death in 1927, and the husband remarried this person named "Roberta". Why she is shown in the 1930 census as "Roberta" when she's always been shown as Dora is a mystery. I still didn't think this was her because her age is incorrect as she'd supposedly only be about 38 in 1930. HOWEVER, in her son Thomas Dwight's 1959 obituary it lists his surviving mother "Mrs. Ethel Moore" of Lancaster.

CENSUS: 1930 Columbus, Franklin Co., OH 411 Oak Street; ED 25-66 SH 10B
MOORE, Robert A., head, rents home for $20/month, owns a radio set, 22y b MT,

1959 - listed as the surviving mother, Mrs. Ethel Moore of Lancaster in son Thomas Dwight Parrish's September obit.

HISTORY OF VAN WERT COUNTY, OHIO AND REPRESENTATIVE CITIZENS, EDITED AND COMPILED BY THADDEUS S. GILLILAND. VAN WERT, OHIO. PUBLISHED BY RICHMOND & ARNOLD GEORGE RICHMOND; C. R. ARNOLD CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, 1906

WILLIAM CUNNINGHAM, a very prominent farmer of Liberty township, owner of 80 acres of valuable farm land in Willshire township, and half owner with his son George of 71 acres in section 16, Liberty township, was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, April 16, 1830. He is a son of John Cunningham, a native of Brooke County, Virginia, and a grandson of William Cunningham.

William Cunningham, the grandfather, was one of the original contractors for the Ohio Canal, his section being situated at Newark, Ohio. He died before he had completed this contract, which was finished by his son John, the father of our subject.

William Cunningham, our subject, was reared and educated in Coshocton County, Ohio. He was married on June 24, 1858, to Margaret Gault, a daughter of Adam and Sarah (Miller) Gault. Adam Gault was a native of Pennsylvania, and came to Coshocton County with his father, who settled on a farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham have had four children, as follows : George, the only son, born December 3, 1859, who lives on the home place, of which he is half owner; Anna B. (Foor), who lives in Willshire township, and is the mother of eight children ; Sarah E., who died at the age of eight years; and Terzah Olga, who lives at home.

Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham came to Van Wert County from Coshocton County in 1867, and settled on a farm of 80 acres in Willshire township, which they still own. Here they lived until 1891, when they bought a farm of 71 acres in Liberty township, and have since made their home on this farm.

Mr. Cunningham, while living in Coshocton County, served as township clerk, and has served as township trustee several terms in Willshire township. His son George has served as township assessor in Liberty township. Fraternally, he is a member of the Patrons of Husbandry.

"John Powell married Polly Fellers, a cousin to Henry Powell's wife. He is the father of three children, and is now living in Findlay, Ohio", Powell, John,. Dayton, Ohio: Published for the author, 1880, p 73.

"John Powell, son of Peter Powell, was born in Mifflin County, Pa., May 24, 1806. When eight years old he came with his parents to Fairfield County, Ohio, where he learned to do all manner of farm-work. He was married Sept. 20th, 1826, to Polly Fellers, daughter of Henry Fellers. She was born Dec. 25, 1808. After their marriage they lived with his father and farmed for him. They were both confirmed in the Germany Reformed Church. He was very zealous in contending for a form of religion but knew nothing of the power. In 1834 they moved to Eagle Twp., Hancock Co., Ohio, where he had entered 420 acres of land. He went to work with a good will, and with the assistance of hired help, soon opened up a large farm. In the course of time he built a sawmill on a stream which flowed through the farm. He farmed extensively, run the sawmill when he had the water-power, and made condsiderable money. But in consequence of overwork and exposure to wet and cold weather, he became afflicted with dropsy, and ofr several years suffered much affliction. His wife also became sickly, and died April 23d, 1862, in bright hopes of heaven and a happy rest from all suffering.

"About 1835 they were both convicted of sin and hopefully converted to God. They united with the Evangelical Association, under the pastoral labors of Rev. Mr. Bucks, late of Pennsylvania, a missionary to Hancock County, Ohio.... Sept. 15, 1862, Brother Powell concluded to marry again, and chose Miss Rebecca Miller, a very fine Christian lady. She was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, Dec. 25, 1832. He had no children with his first wife, but has three with his second; namely, Jeremiah, born Jun 26, 1863; Amos, born July 17, 1865; Mary Rebecca, born May 24, 1871. [10569] NAME/Parentage: Via email from PAUL F. ROBY, 63020 Merrick Rd., Cambridge, OH 43725-9278; Dec. 1999.

DOB/DOD/POB/POD: California online death information as seen online at RootsWeb. Parents listed as OWENS and FOOR. She is listed as: NIEMI, Lucille Foor, died same date as the "Lynn Foor Sarges". Confusing.

Not listed with family in 1910 census. I'm assuming this "Lucille" is the same as "Lillian".

NOTE: There is a Lynn Foor Sarges b 22 Feb 1903 (same date) who died 11 Jun 1952 in Los Angeles Co., CA. Born in KY. Mother's surname OWENS, father's FOOR listed in California death records. Am going to add a spouse to Lucille for SARGES but this data is UNCONFIRMED. Not sure if "Lynn" is actually Lucille, or possibly a twin sister or other sibling.

"John Thrash. Pleasantly located on section 28 in Philo Township, is a finely improved farm of 120 acres, which invariably attracts the attention of the passing traveler through that locality as the home of a prosperous and progressive farmer and intelligent citizen and business man... Mr. Thrash took possession of the above described place in the spring of 1874, coming to this county from Ohio. He is a native of the Buckeye State, born in Bloom Township, Fairfield County, Jan. 22, 1839. His childhood and youth were passed under the home roof, and he remained a resident of his native county until coming to this vicinity. His father, MICHAEL THRASH, who was born in Baltimore Co., MD., was of German-Irish parentage. The father of the latter was a staunch defender of American liberty and put his theories into practice by serving as a soldier in the Revolutionary War upon the side of the Colonists. In fact, he practically gave up his life to this cause, as he contracted a disease in the army which was the cause of his death not long afterward. His son, Michael, the father of our subject, was then a young boy of six or seven years. The mother followed her husband to the silent land a few years later, leaving the orphan boy without other means of support than that of his own hands. Michael Thrash learned the trade of a tanner, at which he worked, however, but a short time, when he left his native state, and going into Franklin County, Ohio, bought a farm, which he sold the following year and then moved into Fairfield County and purchased a tract of timber land in Bloom Township. He cleared the land and brought it to a tillable condition and established a comfortable home in the wilderness where he spent the remainder of his days. He departed this life in 1863, after having arrived at the advanced age of ninety years. He was first married in Franklin County, Ohio, to Miss Cramer, who became the mother of three children, all now deceased. Mrs. T. died in middle life in Fairfield County. Michael Thrash contracted a second marriage in that county, with Miss Rebecca Rush, who was born in Pennsylvania, when she removed when a young woman to Ohio with her parents. The latter, Jacob and Elizabeth (Cramer) Rush, were natives of Berks County, PA., of German descend, and died in Fairfield County, Ohio. The mother of our subject after arriving at the age of eighty years also died in the latter-named county, in 1880. Michael Thrash served through the War of 1812. [ancestry.com.
