"Henry married Sarah, the daughter of John Blackwood. Charles married the daughter of the Mr. Mosier, who, prior to Civil War days kept the hotel which later became the Leyndecker home. This daughter was known to all as "Sis". She was a great friend of mine, so that when the Brown boys and the Mosiers removed to Iowa, I felt it a personal loss. The wives never returned to the Village, but of the husbands, Henry made several visits, on which occasions he and John Stallsmith would get out the drum and fife, and the streets would again resound with martial music.", "THE VILLAGE. NOTE: IT IS UNCONFIRMED THIS IS A CHILD OF THIS UNION. BIRTH: Listed in Henry Co OH probate
MARRIAGE: Mentioned in John Wesley bio in "Henry Co., OH", book 3, p 137

Family history states that Metta was a diabetic and had one leg amputated. They wanted to amputate the other, but she wouldn't let them. She eventually died because of this. Her husband, James, went to the cemetery every day for the rest of his life to visit the grave.

"... my great grandmother Metta [Foor Good]. I remember her somewhat
since I was only 4 when she passed away. She was quite a character. I always
remember hearing that she crossed the US in a covered wagon with her
parents. She suffered from diabetes and had one leg amputated before
her death. What I remember is that she refused to have the other one
amputated and subsequently died. She and my great grandfather [James Durias
Good] lived on the family farm near McClure in Damascus township. My
grandfather [Roland Cecil Good] had the farm across the street and helped
farm both farms all his life. Roland C. was called 'Mike" by most people. I
don't have a clue why. We always went to grandparents for Sunday dinner,
played in the barns, watched the milking, played softball in the cow pasture
and helped gather eggs with Grandma." [From Kay Arlene (Good) Doggett via
March 2005 email.]

MIDDLE NAME: Usually shown as just "William C.", but corres. w/Bill Latta,
Q-359, Road 15, Route 4, Napoleon, OH 43545 on 11/92 shows his middle name as Cyrus.

BIRTH/DEATH: Only birth/death info I had was from tombstone. Bill Latta's
corres. showed full dates and places. Bill shows his location of birth as Fairfield county, but unless they moved to Henry a month or two after his birth, then most likely it was Henry Co., Ohio in which he was born.

NOTE: If William Cyrus Foor's birthdate is actually in March of 1870, he would've appeared in the 1870 census with his family. Henry Co., Ohio probate births show David Foor was born there in March 1870 (no day shown) V 1 p 14 #3. William Cyrus was either renamed, or the year of birth is incorrect.

INDEX

[29814] William A. McKelvey was Drowned with Rocks Tied to His Neck. William A. McKelvey, who met sensational death at Toronto, was well known in Decatur and his wife's parents are Capt. and Mrs. Samuel McGowan of 1303 North College street. The only particulars of the death known to the Decatur relatives are those given in the following item which appeared in the Chicago Tribune. "The body of William A. McKelvey, formerly a Chicago manufacturer was found yesterday in the Toronto bay, heavily weighted with stones. The Toronto police think McKelvey was murdered, but his wife, Mrs. Katherine McKelvey, 375 Warren avenue, believes he committed suicide. She said he had acted strangely for two years. McKelvey, up to two years ago, was a member of the McKelvey Concrete Mixer company, 171 LaSalle street. When the firm dissolved partnership the Canadian patent rights were given to him. He went to Toronto to establish a manufacturing plant. When McKelvey left for Canada his wife opened a boarding house. He promised to send for her in a few months. He suffered business revers and ceased to correspond with Mrs. McKelvey. She had not heard from him in several months. Mrs. McKelvey said she had received no word of the finding of the body, except the newspaper dispatch. The body will probably be brought to Chicago for burial". Mrs. McKelvey was formerly Miss Cassie McGowan, daughter of Samuel McGowan. She is now in Chicago. Mr. McKelvey was an uncle of Guy Chenoweth of Decatur. Another nephew, Lloyd Chenoweth of Detroit, was in the city Sunday and will go to Chicago to see Mrs. McKelvey. The relatives in Decatur, although they know little of the death, are inclined to the belief that McKelvey committed suicide. They say he had been acting strangely and think perhaps he was mentally unbalanced. [Decatur Herald, Decatur, IL., Aug. 8, 1905]

"On the 28th of September 1890, Mr. [Robert] Russell wedded Miss Minnie F. Miller, a daughter of Joseph and Rebecca (Grauel) Miller. Her father was married twice, and by his first wife, who was Miss Rebecca Grauel, he had ten children, six daughters and four sons. Mrs. Mary K. Sawyer, of Greenfield township; W. H., also of Greenfield; a son who died in infancy; Mrs. Susannah Manly, who lives in Sac county, Iowa: Mrs. Ella Justice, a resident of Shelby county; Mrs. Addie Kohl, of Greenfield township; Mrs. Minnie F. Russell, the wife of our subject; a son who died in infancy; Jennie May, who died at the age of five years; and a son who did not survive infancy. Mrs. Miller died in 1873, at the age of forty years, and when Mr. Miller married the second time, his wife was Miss Sarah McConaughy, a daughter of John and Jane (Duncan) McConaughy, both natives of the Buckeye state." From History of Jones County, Iowa, Past and Present, R. M. Corbitt, S. J. Clarke Publishing Co., Chicago, 1910, p. 614.

"Joseph Miller, second child of Rev. Jacob and Mary (Keller) Miller, was born June 12, 1825 in Fairfield Co., Ohio. He grew up in that county, while the Kellers, Swartzes, Leibs, Einsels, Huddles, Spitlers and Seitzes -- all related by marriage and by the ties of blood -- were yet living there. With all of them he doubtless became more or less well acquainted and ties of consangainity bound them closely together... Some of the relationship moved to Licking County [OH] and many others to Seneca County [OH], where many miles separated those of the same flesh and blood. But the MIllers moved much farther away, going to the then pioneer state of Iowa. The Miller family moved there in 1844, when the son Joseph was about 20 years of age, and made that new commonwealth their future home. He lived one half mile from his brother, Eilas. Like his brother, Elias, Joseph Miller was married twice -- his first married being to Rebecca Grauel, a sister to Elias' first wife, his second marriage being to Margaret McConely.

"The Millers in this country came originally from York Co., PA. Among the emigrants coming from Europe nearly two hundred years ago, and settling in York county, were Abraham, Michael, Jacob, Matthias, Christian, Daniel and Solomon Miller and others... In 1844 Jacob and Mary (Keller) Miller moved with their large family to Jones Co., IA., where they made their future home. They settled near Anamosa on a farm of 160 acres, of which 120 acres were in one piece of land and 40 acres more were on a separate strip. Jacob Miller continued to preach, riding large circuits, as long as he was active... Jacob Miller died July 16, 1881. His faithful wife died Dec. 23, (her husband's birthday) either in 1894 or 1895, authorities differing as to which year. Their children were Elias V. b Feb. 22, 1824, Joseph b June 12, 1825, Sarah b May 22, 1827, Levi Keller Miller b Oct. 5, 1831, Elizabeth b July 6, 1833, David W., b April 1, 1836, David W. b April 1, 1836, Amos G. b Jan 19, 1839, Jacob w. b July 1, 1841, Benjamin H. b Aug. 10, 1845. JACOB W. MOREHART was born in Fairfield Co., Ohio, June 27, 1840. He was the only son born to Adam and Elizabeth (Dreisbach) Morehart, both natives of
PA and of German descent. His father was born in November, 1779; immigrated with his parents to Fairfield Co., Ohio, when fourteen years old;
came to this Co. in November, 1844, and located upon a farm in Section 17, Clay Township. Here he spent the rest of his life, his death occurring September 19, 1878. Jacob's boyhood and early youth were spent upon his father's farm and attending the district school. At the age of sixteen years he began farming for himself. This was upon the home-place in Clay Township. He continued upon this place until March, 1875, when he was selected by the commissioners of Cass Co. to take charge of the Co. Infirmary, which position he assumed and has held ever since. He is a No. 1 farmer, a good manager, and is discharging his duties in a creditable manner.

Mary A. Conrad, a native of Bethelem Township, this Co., born June 8, 1843, became his wife September 8, 1863. She was the daughter of David H. and Mary
(Custer) Conrad, both natives of Washington Co., Penn. To this union eight children have been born, seven of whom are living: Burl, born August 1, 1865;
Mary E., born January 28, 1866; Hannah C., born January 30, 1868; Adam J., born November 15, 1870, died March 18, 1875; David H., born August 2, 1872;

INDEX

[21830] NOTE: It is unknown if Jesse S. and Nimrod Walters were brothers; this is only an assumption at this time. Jesse S. was residing in Hocking Twp., Fairfield co., Ohio in the 1850 and 1860 censuses. Jesse S., his wife, and at least two of his children are buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH. Supposed brother Nimrod and one of Nimrod's daughters are also buried there and in close proximity to Jesse S. and some other Walter's.

In researching Jesse S., I was looking through the cemetery book and noticed how 4 of the family, including the parents, all died in the 1860s, and ALL of the four tombstones were not located during a 1995 tombstone transcription that the county genealogical society did. Nimrod and his daughter's stone were not found, either. Once all these stones stood or laid together, and now they are all gone.

Only the fact that these Walters were at one time all buried together leads me to believe that Nimrod and Jesse S. Walters were somehow related.
