Announcement has been made of the marriage of Mr. Russel Bookman and Miss Catherine Deeds, that was quietly celebrated in Newport, KY on Tuesday, July 18. They will reside at the home of the bride's parents for the present. On Wednesday evening the young couple was pleasantly surprised by about forty of their friends who called unannounced and presented them with many articles that will be found extremely useful in their kitchen. An enjoyable evening was spent in music and games and a lovely luncheon was surved. 1916 -Estate is Worth $125,000. Will of Herbert E. Bradley is Admitted to Probate. After providing that the sum of $6,000 be set aside for the erection of a mausoleum at Lithopolis, the will of Herbert E. Bradley, probated yesterday, puts the estate into a trust, the revenues to go one-third to the widow, one-third to the son, Herbert E. Bradley, Jr., a minor, and one-sixth each to his sisters, Alice Pflueger and Rosalla Loop. The son is to be final beneficiary when the trust is terminated by the death of the remaining heirs. The will, which was made May 16, 1910, disposes of $125,000 worth of property. Appended is a statement signed by Mrs. Bradley to the effect that the will had been read in her presence and that she approved it. [Lancaster Daily Gazette, Lancaster, Ohio, June 13, 1916]
NOTE: The above mentions a mausoleum, and there is a "Bradley Mausoleum" at Lithopolis cemetery. The dates in the records for Herbert E. Bradley there are August 21, 1863 to May 25, 1916. However, I have since found another Herbert E. Bradley supposedly buried in Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. The name is shown as Herbert E. Bradley with the dates August 23, 1864 to May 25, 1916. Father's name is shown as William Bradley. Is this the same individual? Perhaps the remains taken to a different cemetery? The one at Green Lawn shows his father was William, though. But to have the SAME date of death, and to be born in August in either 1863 or 1864 seems too coincidental. NEITHER cemetery has the widow "Josephine Bradley" buried there unless the widow Josephine married again after 1930 when she was last found in the census as a 57y widow. Only one Herbert Bradley who died between 1910-1920 appears in the online index at the Ohio Historical Society. Name shown there is Herbert E. Bradley, V #1950 Cert. #32697 died May 26, 1916 in Logan Co., Ohio.

OBIT: Enoch Fenstemaker, the well known pioneer resident of this city, died suddenly Thursday monring at his home in this city. Mr. Fenstermaker was lying on a couch in his home engaged in reading a morning paper when death overtook him. Mrs. Fenstemaker had gone to a neighbor's and when she returned, found him with life extinct. Aid was summoned immediately but to no avail as the death angel had already paid its visit. Although ailing for years, Mr. Fenstemaker had always been in fairly good health and was a familiar figure upon the streets of Rochester, where he was known by everybody as a kind and upright citizen. He was born in Pennsylvania, July 17, 1827, and at an early age moved to Fairfield county, Ohio, where he attended school and later completed his education at college. In 1860 he was married to Miss Julia Fenstemaker. To this union were born three sons, Alpheus and Ora, this city, and Frank, Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Fenstemaker first lived on a farm in Fulton county about forty-one years ago and later moved to Rochester where they have since resided. The family's request that Drs. Dillman of Fulton and M. O. King, city, hold an autopsy to determind the cause of his suffering during the last twenty years was observed Thursday afternoon. The result was that he was afflicted with gastric ulcers. The funeral will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made in I.O.O.F. cemetery.
