I cannot find Angie in any other censuses. The husband, Lyman B. Wheeler, appears in censuses with a different wife, and there's a possibility he was estranged from her as later he and that wife are in different households but still shown as married. I searched for any person born about 1863 who's first name started with "ang" in Franklin and Fairfield counties and couldn't come up with what appeared to be a match.

Death certificate image. Angie Wheeler, 964 East Rich St., Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, died Nov. 26, 1936, aged 73y 3m 14d, married to Lyman Wheeler. Born Aug. 12, 1863 in Lithopolis, OH, to James Bailey b OH and unknown mother of unknown birth. Informant was Lyman B. Wheeler of same address. Buried in Lithopolis Cem., Nov. 28.

NOTE: There are only two Wheeler listings for Lithopolis Cem. in the book, "Cemeteries of Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH", Fairfield County Gen. Soc., Chapter OGS, 1996. She may have never had a tombstone, the tomsbtone erected but no longer there, OR she may have had a previous husband and be buried under that husband's name.

"A farm of nearly two hundred acres, which joined the Crumley place was bought by David Baugher about the date of the Civil War. I think he was not directly related to the originators of the Village, but came through another line which had first settled in Greenfield township. The Baugher farmhouse was but a stone throw from the Village, and the family was an integral part of all matters except political. There were four daughters and one son. These were Susan, Celia, Orpha, Alice and Jacob. The latter was a cripple, who walked with difficulty, and his infirmities compelled hime to pass his last several years bedfast." "THE VILLAGE. [9928] 1816 - a Thomas Cole owned land in range 20 township 13, section 8, which was originally owned by himself. Info from the 1816 Fairfield Co., Ohio tax lists. A David Swope owned land in range 20 township 13 in section 5 that was originally owned by Thomas Cole.

HISTORY OF FAIRFIELD AND PERRY COUNTIES, OHIO, THEIR PAST AND PRESENT, Compiled BY A. A. Graham, W. H. BEERS & CO. 1883, p 201. (Amanda Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio section) "In the spring of 1800, three men, names not remembered, came from near Chillicothe and broke ground on the prairie in section number four, planted corn, and then returned home. They came back in due time and tended their corn twice. The next fall one of these men sold his share to Horatio Clark, receiving a horse in payment. The other two likewise disposed of their shares to parties not now remembered. In November of the same year. Wilkinson Lane, of Huntington county, Tennessee, settled on section eight, and was succeeded in the month of June following by Thomas Cole, who had entered the section. The family were never troubled by the Indians. In a few years 200

Mr. Cole built a school-house on his land, hired a teacher, Abraham
Cole, for eight dollars a month, and then invited all who wished to send
their children and pay a pro rata share or not, as they could or would.
In those days school hours were from "sun to sun," or as soon as
scholars arrived. On one occasion Broad Cole, son of Thomas Cole,
born in 1802, and recently deceased, thought of beating the master at
school some day, and after a few failures to do so, left home one morning
about daybreak, but on arriving at the school-house he was greeted
with a good fire, and found the master, a Mr. Smith, banking up earth
against the school-house, to protect it against cold."

Case #1863 is the estate of Thomas Cole, filed in 1842. Administrator was Broad Cole whose wife was Leah. Heirs listed were Elizabeth Barnhart; Mary Swope of Fairfield county; heirs of Abraham Cole of Hancock Co.,; Joshua Cole; Sarah Barnhart of Sandusky Co.; Rachel Long of Hancock Co.; Althaliah Cole of Wayne Co.; Ann Cole of Sandusky Co.; Broad Cole of Fairfield Co.; Rebecca Selby of Indiana. Broad Cole had daughters Mary and Elizabeth. Thomas Cole owned land in section 8, township 13, range 20. "JOHN COURTRIGHT, one of the prominent agriculturists of Pickaway County, who is the owner of 700 acres of farming land, 225 acres of which lie along the county line between Pickaway and Fairfield county, in the latter county, has his home on the remainder which is situated in sections 11, 13 and 14, Walnut township, his residence being located near the corner of four sections. Mr. Courtright was born in the home he occupies, on January 28, 1838, and is a son of Hon. Jesse D. and Sallie (Stout) Courtright.

Hon. Jesse D. Courtright was born in Bloom township, Fairfield County, Ohio; May 5, 1811, and was a son of John Courtright, a Pennsylvanian, who came to Fairfield County, Ohio, in 1801. Jesse D. Courtright was reared in Fairfield County. In August, 1831, he was married to Sallie Stout, who was a daughter of George Stout, a very prominent farmer of Washington township. For a time after marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Courtright lived in Clear Creek township, Fairfield County, and for a short time in Washington township, Pickaway County, but in 1834 they moved to the farm now owned and occupied by their son John. In the following year Jesse D. Courtright erected the brick house which still serves as a comfortable family home. Mr. Courtright served for nearly a third of a century as a justice of the peace and was a member of the Ohio State Legislature for one term. Hedied at Circleville, February 22, 1873. His wife survived until July, 1881.

John Courtright was reared and educated in Walnut township, where his business and family interests have always more or less been centered. On August 16, 1866, he was married to Minerva L. Brobst, who is a daughter of David and Leah Brobst, of Fairfield County, where Mrs. Courtright was born on February 8, 1846.. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Courtright were: Alva Brobst, Sallie Florence, John David and Grace Cilicia. Alva Brobst, the eldest son was born September 29, 1868, and was married in December, 1894, to Laura May Peters, a daughter of John Peters, of Scioto township, and they, have one son, John Peters, born in December, 1896. Sallie Florence was born August 15, 1873, and on December 22, 1899, was married (first) to Rev. E. J. Snyder, who died 10 months later; on September 19, 1905, she was married (second) to Harry Reichelderfer, of Salt Creek township. John David was born September 30, 1875, and died November 20, 1885. The youngest daughter was born March 16, 1881, and resides at home,

Mr, Courtright has always been identified with the Democratic party. He has frequently been called upon to serve in offices of trust and responsibility. He has been on the School Board; has served as township trustee and is serving his second term as trustee of the Pickaway County Children's Home. By Governor Herrick he was appointed a member of the State board of control of the Ohio Agricultural Experimental Station; a board made up of two Democrats and three Republicans. Mr. Courtright has always shown great interest in the Grange movement, regarding it as. a helpful organization for agriculturists, and served as master of Nebraska Grange for 28 years. For almost 24 years he has served as a director of the Reber Hill Cemetery, of Walnut township. For 47 years he has been identified with the Masonic fraternity, and served as worshipful master several terms. No man stands higher in public esteem in this section than does John Courtright, whose portrait accompanies this sketch." History of Pickaway County, Ohio, and Representative Citizens, Aaron R. Van Cleaf, Chicago, IL; 1906, p 559.

"His [John Courtright] youngest son, Jesse D., married Sally Stout, to whom were born nine children, four daughters and five sons: Mary Jane, who married Thomas Cole, now deceased; Sarah, who married E. [26243] NAME: In the obituary of Doris Jean Crahen (b 1935 Indiana, PA; d Nov. 9, 2005 in Spokane, WA) it menntions one of her children as Kathy Ann Kane of Rio Rancho, NM, and granchildren "Amanda Kane Foor, wife of Jeremy Foor of Albuquerque, NM". [The Spokesman Review, Spokane, WA., Nov. 2005]

"While many may look at Amanda Foor's sash and accompanying title and think she's nothing more than a pretty face at grand openings, the newly named Mrs. Central New Mexico-America 2008 is determined to prove them wrong.

Foor will now take her title, and pageant experience, and go on to compete for the Mrs. New Mexico title in June.

"The big reason I decided to run is that this gives me a platform to speak up about something that I care about. It is what I can do as Mrs. Central New Mexico and what I would continue to do as Mrs. New Mexico," Foor said. "If I'm chosen as Mrs. New Mexico I want to be able to represent this state. So many people work very hard. I can do more than stand around and look pretty."

Although Foor and her family moved to Rio Rancho when she was eight, they did live in Bosque Farms for a short time. Originally from Pennsylvania, Foor met her husband after she graduated from the University of New Mexico, and he was stationed at Kirkland Air Force Base.

A year ago, she and her husband, Jeremy, who is also from Pennsylvania, decided to move to Valencia County. That move was inspired by the time she spent here as a child. "It reminded me of Pennsylvania," she said. "The people are nicer, there aren't any big freeways and we're down in the green valley." The couple will celebrate their third wedding anniversary in September. [Velencia County News-Bulletin, New Mexico, Feb. 9, 2008]

STANSBERRY, W. A.
source: 1919 History of Henry Co MO, Uel W. Lamkin, Historical Publishing Co, pg: 700
--- W. A. Stansberry, a Henry County pioneer and prominent farmer and stockman of Big Creek township, is a native of Ohio. He was born in Fairfield County, in 1852, a son of W. H. and Rachel (Elsborn) Stansberry, natives of Ohio. They came to Missouri in 1870 and settled in Big Creek township, Henry County. Later they removed to St. Clair County, where they lived for a time, but returned to Henry County and both died here, and their remains are interred in the Carpenter Cemetery in Johnson County. They were the parents of the following children: Mrs. Samantha Jane Crist, now deceased; Mrs. Mary Showalter, Carroll, Ohio; Mrs. Kate Lane, Clinton, Missouri; John, Old Chilhowee, Missouri; W. A., the subject of this sketch; George, died in Montana; Charles, resides at Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mrs. Rachel Sherman, died at Pittsburg, Kansas; Mrs. Emma Corsen, died in Johnson County, Missouri; Noah, lives in Johnson County, Missouri; J. J., Miami, Oklahoma; Mrs. Frank Murphy, Honey Creek township, and Mrs. Millie Heath, Taberville, Missouri. W. A. Stansberry was reared and educated in Ohio and was about eighteen years of age when he came to Henry County with his parents in 1870. After coming here he worked some by the month, but soon engaged in farming in Big Creek township on rented land. Later he bought a farm and now owns one hundred twenty acres, two and one-half miles southeast of Blairstown. His place is well improved with a good farm residence and other suitable farm buildings. He is engaged in general farming and stock raising, having been especially successful raising Duroc Jersey hogs in recent years. Mr. Stansberry was married in 1876 to Miss Sarah E. Webster, daughter of James H. and Mary Jane (Carpenter) Webster of Big Creek township. The father died in Arkansas in 1903, and the mother died in Henry County during the Civil War, having contracted pneumonia from exposure when driven from home by "Jayhawkers." 'Mrs. Stansberry was one of four children born to her parents, the others being: Pleasant Webster, who served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, and now resides at Bozeman, Montana; Mrs. Mary Haney, Chickalah, Arkansas, and Mrs. Hester Anderson, now deceased. After the death of the mother of these children, the father married again to Mary Lotspiech, and to this second marriage were born the following children: Charles, lives in Arkansas; Mrs. Dora Hanes, deceased; Walter, lives in Oklahoma; Oscar, Arkansas; Florence, Arkansas, and Maude, deceased. To Mr. and Mrs. Stansberry have been born four children, as follows: Blanche, died at the age of three years; Hattie, married Sterling S. Patterson, who is now deceased, having left one child, Ora Ellen, who resides with Mr. and Mrs. Stansberry; John W., at home; Mary J., married Cecil Gray, Big Creek township. Mr. Stansberry has seen much of the history of Henry County in the making, as it were. He recalls when the town of Norris was known as Norris Fork and when the post office was established there on the star mail route from Holden, and they received mail three times each week. He recalls the first store building there which was erected by Moore & Wright. This was about 1873, and this firm carried on the mercantile business there for a number of years. Mr. Stansberry is one of the substantial pioneer citizens of Henry County and the Stansberry family are prominent in the community.

[25079] NAME/DOB/DOD/POB/POD: Via email with Diane Mahoney in Feb. 2005.

DOM/POM: Names listed as Minnie Doss and John Trust. Fairfield Co., Ohio, marriages 1869-1880; LDS Batch M514353.

1930 census shows he immigrated in 1851. He was then a widow. Urbana, Champaign Co., IL, p 80 ED 74 SH 6A

NOTE: Although it seems unlikely that John Trost b abt. 1826 is his father [there is a large gap between the birth of John b 1842 and their next child], I've seen other genealogies that show these are his parents, as well as an article that said "My father was crippled in one limb because of a sickness. He was a tailor, a trade he had learned in Germany". [Philo Area Centennial 1875-1975, Philo, IL]. In the 1880 census, his father is listed as 'maimed or crippled".

"John Trost, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Trost, was born in Mecklenburg, Strelitz, Germany, June 9, 1842. When a boy nine years of age he emigrated to America in company with his grandfather, Frederick Anders. Nine weeks were spent in a sale boat in making the voyage across the Atlantic. In speaking about the trip and new country, he said, 'The boat was very crowded. It seems like a large boat -- it had three masts. My mother and father came from Germany later and joined us at Lockport, Ohio. My father was crippled in one limb because of a sickness. He was a tailor, a trade he had learned in Germany. He had people come from as far as Jefferson, Ohio, to buy their clothes. He made my wedding suit.' (The house in which John Trost, Sr., had his tailor shop is still standing and is inhabited in Canal Winchester, Ohio). I started to work on the farms when I was eleven years old. Come the first of March, I always started to move by 'washing'. I generally worked two or three years at one place. I would 'pick out' a colt and break him to ride. I loved horses. By the time I was homesick, I would have a colt trained and I would ride him home for my mother to see. Mr. Weller, a Pennsylvania Dutch farmer in Jefferson, Ohio, taught me how to plow and, as he said, do it right. I was sent to a 'still', where I watched the men making whiskey. The still was run by a (Theodore) Edd Mittoff. i remember the smell of the ground corn mash. I would return from the still with two jugs of whiskey for Mr. Ziegler, for which he paid 35 cents a gallon. Then there was apple butter, made every fall. Cider was cooked down in a large brass kettle, then apple cuttings were added and this often took up into the middle of the night. Many a day I would bind wheat barefooted and then go to a dance at night. Do a hard day's work, then walk 5 or 6 miles to a party. Get there when the party was half over, but that was my fun.

'I cut rails (like Abe Lincoln). One winter I cut 4000. I was paid by the cord at 40 cents a cord. This work was also done for old man Zielger. I brought to Illinois a pair of Morocco leather boots made in Canal Winchester. They cost me two cords of wood. I 'brok' a horse that I sold to Mr. Ziegler for $200 -- a big price, yes, but he was quite a horse. He was a dappled 'dun' color. I called him 'Jim'. I was asked to drive him around the race track at Lancaster. I drove him to a sulky on the fair grounds. Even he knew he was a pretty horse and I was very proud of him.

'I was about 25 years old when the draft (Civil War) was to take me, but my name coming near the end of the alphabet, the war was over before I was called up. Uncle Charles Anders, mother's half-brother, was home from the war, hid in the bed during the day. All I know about him and the war was that he had hs hat shot off. Maybe that scared him and he came home to hide.'

Mr. Trost was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Doss of Canal Winchester, Ohio, in the year 1869, Rev. George Mochel, pastor of the Lutheran church, officiating. Three years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Trost, with their two daughters, Mary and Alice, moved from Ohio and came to Champaign Co., Illinois, settling on a farm a short distance sough of the village of Philo. Mr. Trost said, 'We left Ohio, you know, because we wanted some day to have a home of our own. The land was too expensive in Ohio, for the men who owned their farms had been there for some time and had become prosperous. In those days we traveled over the 'pike' from Lancaster to the home and, after so many miles, had to pay a toll. We often went in the stage coach over this road, the coaches being painted in various light colors and drawn by four horses.

Mr. Trost brought two horses from Ohio. (A Mr. Conn drove them through to Philo). He bought a mare from Alspah. She was cream colored and worth $150. He brought a single set of harness. They were good leather, with nickel-plated hardware. He traded them to the harness shop man in Philo (a Mr. Mahlone) for a double set. Elijah Plotner helped Mr. Trost on the farm until he was married. They built a crib 12 rails high and 12 feet wide. The roof was made of slough grass. Mr. Ordel, an Ohio neighbor who had come to Illinois before Mr. Trost, met Mr. Trost and his family at Tolono to take them to their new home. Mr. Ordel and Mr. Trost needed a cos and they bought themselves one each in Edgar County. This was their first purchase together. Mr. Trost's cow turned out to be a long-horned wild one. He said, 'She would come at me with her horns and I thought I could stop her with a pitchfork but I couldn't. Uncle George Halberstadt and his four girls came over and we all tried to put her in the stable, but she was too much for all of us. You can bet I sold her -- very soon -- to a George Burton. She was nice and fat and sold well. When I first came from Ohio I was sleeping on some money from my sold in Ohio (I had lived in the Ziegler farm). I used part of the money when Mr. Ordel and I went to Terre Haute and bought some cows and calves. We made this trip on horseback. Mother and I came to Illinois in March, 1872. There was not much to be seen of Urbana then. I remember two buildings of the University at that time. There were no good roads then, but many bad mud holes. On the eighty where we settled, we found only a shelter for our horses made with four poles in the ground and a thatched roof covered with straw. Our 'old house' was already there, built by Mr. Wright and in that Mother and I started housekeeping. Mollie and Alice was all of our family then. The soil in those days was poor and I had to work the lower eighty three or four years before I could plant anything. The old house was boarded up on outside. I weatherboarded it -- plastered it -- and made it more like a home. We had left a new house in Ohio built by Mr. George Ziegler for his son. I brought two sacks of yellow seed corn from Ohio -- Kinney corn it was called -- and we raised it for years in this vicinity. Mr. Copely called me The Buckey Farmer -- the farmer who had straight corn rows. I planted as I plowed -- always in straight rows.

The Trost children born after the folks moved to Illinois were Edward, Lillie, John, Ida, Gertrude, Agnes, Frances, Opal. In 1908, Mr. Trost retired from the farm and went to Urbana, where he made his home at 511 West High Street. Upon coming to Illinois he became actively interested in organizing the present Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Philo, of which he was a charter member.

'I was so discouraged when we first landed -- when our goods came and before we unpacked it, I said to Mother, "Oh, let's go back" -- and I should have done so if it had not been for dear Mother. She said, 'Oh, no, let's stay and try it for a year'. Mother was always happy! How much we owe her! Many times I heard her singing clear to the end of the 80.' Eli Zoll, one of the county's deeply venerated aged citizens, passed away at 5:30 o'clock Friday evening at his home in Travisville, three miles south of Bluffton. He had been in failing health for some time from Bright's disease, but his last serious illness which confined him to to his home was only about ten days duration.
The decedent was born in Fairfield County, Ohio on October 13, 1830, a son of Jacob and Mary Zoll. He was 79 years of age last October. They lived in this city at two different periods, a total of four or five years. Three years ago they bought property at Travisville and retired to a quiet life in the little village to spend their remaining years.
There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Zoll eight children of whom four, two boys and two girls, are dead. The four surviving children are Edward and Milton of Bluffton; I.C.
