[T12753] NAME/DOB/DOD/POBurial/Parentage: Margaret A. "Daughter of J. W. & C.", "Cemeteries of Bloom Township, Fairfield County, OH", Fairfield Co., Ohio, Chapter OGS, 1996, p 91. Listed as "aged 5y", and in 1995 when the society did a transcription the stone was in the ground too deep to read.

Margaret does not appear in the 1860 census, so I'm wondering if the "5 years" is correct. There is a Margaret Alice Alspaugh baptised 5 March 1863 who's parent is listed as "Jacob W. Alspaugh". I'm wondering if this was a newborn child, and she lived only 5 days, rather than 5 years. If this is the same Margaret, then she was baptised 3 days before she died, quite possibly because she was ill.

"Henry married Sarah, the daughter of John Blackwood. Charles married the daughter of the Mr. Mosier, who, prior to Civil War days kept the hotel which later became the Leyndecker home. This daughter was known to all as "Sis". She was a great friend of mine, so that when the Brown boys and the Mosiers removed to Iowa, I felt it a personal loss. The wives never returned to the Village, but of the husbands, Henry made several visits, on which occasions he and John Stallsmith would get out the drum and fife, and the streets would again resound with martial music.", "THE VILLAGE. NEWS 06B
VANCE Shirley Ann Vance (Storts) found eternal peace with God, early Friday morning, April 23, 2004. She has been surrounded by her loving family and friends and now, she walks ''in the garden'' with her beloved parents, Charlie and Mary Storts. She is survived by her adoring children and grandchildren, Sharon (John) Bobo and children, Kristi (Scott) Burre, Judd (Lauren) and Josh; Danny (Debbie) and children, Haeli (Mark) Beyer and her soon-to-be first great-grandchild, Bryce and Jarrod; Rick (Suzy) and children, Ashley, Adam, Aaron, Andrew and Alex; Vicki (Dave) DeWees and children, Jeremy and Kelli Theiss; and Jacki (Dan) Thompson and son, Nick; her brother Bobby (Betty) and nephew, Michael (Ginger); and her sister, Judy (Rick) Burnheimer and niece, Linny (Steve) Hessler; the kids' father and grandfather, Boone Vance and many, many other loving relatives and friends. She is also preceded in death by nephew Tommy Burnheimer. Mom was born on December 26, 1935. She was raised in the Canal Winchester area and lived most of her life there. Her devotion to her community was evident in her involvement with numerous clubs and organizations. She also served faithfully and passionately in a number of ministries and her church families meant a great deal to her, as well. The sparkle in Mom's eye was the reflection of love that she had for her children and grandchildren. They filled her heart and her life with an enormous joy and she talked of them often to all who knew her. Those who knew her also knew her great sense of humor and her fun-loving ways. They knew her loyalty and her generosity, her orneriness and her wit. Mom was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. We offer special thanks to all of you who were with us at the end and also to The Manor at Whitehall and Vista Care Hospice. Friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, where funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastors Dennis Dinger and Richard Vance officiating. Interment Lithopolis Cemetery. Friends who wish may contribute to the Canal Winchester Historical Society or the Kidney Foundation in her memory.
