1901 - Nov. 21st issue. Caleb Alspaugh was born in Bloom township on Oct. 16, 1846, and died Oct. 21, 1901, aged 5y 15d. In 1872 he married Elizabeth Smaltz. His first wife and 2 children preceded him in death. On August 14, 1881, he married Elizabeth Brossman. Survived by wife, 6 brother and 6 sisters. Two sisters and one brother are deceased. David W. Arps, age 56, of Lancaster, died March 14, 2004 of complications of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Born August 12, 1947, in Defiance, Ohio. He grew up on a family farm in northwest Ohio. Veteran of the U.S. Army and served time in Germany. Graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing from Ohio State University. He was employed as Sales Manager for the Kubota Tractor Corporation since 1985.
Survived by his wife Eileen Esther Barnekow Arps, sons Michael David and Richard William Arps, mother Lorena Arps, sisters Barbara Churchill and Mary Thompson, brothers Phillip and Stephen Arps.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elden G. Arps and sister Rosemarie Arps.
David was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pickerington. His hobbies were gardening and motorcycle tours of the U.S. He was a lifetime member of the American Motorcyclist Association and also a member of the Buckeye Beemers. He was a very dedicated and devoted husband and father.
Arrangements by DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY 550 Hill Road North Pickerington, Ohio 43147.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 18, 2004, at Epiphany Lutheran Church 268 Hill Road North Pickerington, Ohio 43147, with Pastor David Shuggert officiating. A luncheon will be held following the service, to receive family and friends.
Contributions may be made to OSU Leukemia Research Fund B301 StarlingLoving Hall 320 West Tenth Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43210, in David's Memory.

OBIT: Mrs. Laura B. Woy, aged resident of Everett R. D. 2, died at her home of a heart condition on Christmas day, Dec. 25, 1945, aged 81 years and 26 days. She was born Nov. 29, 1864 in East Providence Twp., a daughter of James H. and Elizabeth (Foor) Foor. She was united in marriage with Ezekiel B. Woy on Feb. 10, 1883; her husband is deceased. Surviving are these children: Walter R., Mrs. Pearl Sollenberger, both of Everett R 2, Mrs. Effie McFarland, Steelton; Mrs. Lena Sollenberger, Clearville R 2; McKinley Woy, Hsersehl and Arthur E. all of Everett R 2. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. George W. Foor, Everett R 2 and Mrs. G. E. Householder, Conemaugh. She was a member of the Christian Church. The funeral will be held Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at the home with the Rev. Lewis Duval and the Rev. Walter W. Swank officiating. Interment in the Everett Cem. will be directed by D. S. Gump & Son. She was born Wednesday, December 4th, 1935 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Charles and Sarah (Manges) Foor.

On August 8, 1954 she married Ralph L. Means who passed away in March of 2006. She is survived by their sons,

She was preceded in passing away by an infant son Kevin, a son Terry L. Means in March of 2012, a sister Betty Robinette and a brother Harry Foor.

Mrs. Means was a founding member of the Pennwood Bible Church. After graduation from Bedford High School, she began working as a waitress at Mae’s Diner on Mile Level, later taking a break from working to raise her sons. She then worked as a waitress for many years at Kelly’s Scenic View Restaurant in Everett until retiring., where she loved and was loved by many of her customers.

At home she enjoyed crocheting, watching NASCAR racing and “cheering on” her Pittsburgh Steelers and other favorite sports teams. She loved to read, enjoyed spending time on her front porch and talking with her neighbors, and will be greatly missed for her smile and the happiness she shared with so many.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22nd, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Pennwood Bible Church with Pastor Floyd Rinehart officiating.

Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Friday at the Church from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.

Burial will be held at Stevens Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Isabelle to the Pennwood Bible Church, 440 Hospital Drive, Everett, PA 15537.

Virginia Foor Overley, 91, of Covington, died at 5:05 p.m. Saturday at her home.

She was a retired ditto operator and mailroom clerk with Charles Taylor and Sons Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church, Covington. Her husband, Marvin Scott Overley, died in 1946. A son, Marvin Scott Overley Jr., died in 2001.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn T. Bunton of Covington; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elizaville Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Madison Avenue Christian Church, 1530 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011.

FRIDLEY Howard Fridley, age 96, life-long Canal Winchester area resident, went to be with the Lord at his home on April 28, 2010. Born April 7, 1914, in Canal Winchester to the late Utley M. and Maude I. (Sallee) Fridley, and also preceded in death by beloved son David in 1958, brothers Paul, Lester and Carl. A 1932 graduate of Canal Winchester High School, he also spent six months in the U.S. Army prior to the start of WWII. He was a retired farmer and did plastering-work with the family business, Fridley Plastering. Member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting in his spare time. Survived by loving wife of almost 65 years, Bertha (Steele); sons, Melvin (Deborah) Fridley and Bill (Eileen) Fridley; grandchildren, Troy (Rebecca), Tiffany, Tara and Joshua Fridley; great-granddaughters, Ariana and Cortana; sisters, Edna Wilson and Elsie Graham; nieces; nephews and many dear friends. Friends may visit Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME. 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110. Edward Shearer, 37, Gladwin County Commissioner and Grout Twp. farmer, died Friday, Sept. 11, of injuries sustained in a mishap Thursday at his farm at 485 S. Shearer Rd.
Born in Grout Twp. on August 21, 1944, he had spent his lifetime here. He operated a dairy farm on Buzzell Rd. and was a member of the Gladwin Free Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau. Mr Shearer graduated from Gladwin High School in 1962 and attended Michigan State University. He had served as county commissioner from District 5, Grout and Buckeye Twps. for 3 years.
Mr Shearer and the former Nancy Hollopeter were married Aug. 26, 1967 in the West Grout Free Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Thomas; one daughter Tammy, both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Shearer of Gladwin; 3 brothers, Francis of Waupaca, WI, Bill and Edwin of Gladwin.
Services were held Monday at 1;30 P.M. from the Free Methodist Church. The Rev. Allen and the Rev. Hollopeter officiated and burial was in Grout Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Mathews Funeral Home.

[31558] Richard “Dick” Lee Sheridan, 85, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the FairHoPe Hospice Pickering House.
Born on January 20, 1929 to the late Elsworth and Laurel Sheridan, Dick was a graduate of North High School, where he was known as a tremendous baseball player and overall great athlete. Dick worked for over 40 years as a Claims Adjustor for State Auto Insurance.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Jane; children, Gail (Barry) Gerdt, Deb Sheridan, and Clint (Diane) Sheridan; grandsons, Jason and Joel Gerdt; and great-grandchildren, Calvin, Patrick, and Emma.
Dick was preceded in death by his half-sister, Marge Crabtree.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Greencastle Bible Church, 2940 Amanda Northern Rd., Carroll, OH 43112, where friends may visit from 9:30-11:00a.m. prior to the service.
Private interment at Betzer Cemetery.
Arrangements by the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, Canal Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dick’s memory to FairHoPe Hospice, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, OH 43130.

[24248] MACMILLAN, George Whitefield, educator, was born in York county, Pa., Aug. 19, 1827. He attended the West Alexander academy and the College of New Jersey, and was graduated from Princeton Theological seminary in 1854. He was ordained by the presbytery of Albany, Nov. 17, 1857, and was pastor at Princetown, N.Y., 1857-63. He was married in 1858 to Nancie Josinah MacMillan. He was stated supply at Lithopolis, Ohio, 1863-66; pastor at Brunswick, Ill., 1866-69; supply at Butler, Mo., 1870-73; and pastor at Perrineville, N.J., 1878-88. He was elected presIdent of Richmond college, Ohio, in 1888. The honorary degree of D.D. was conferred on him by Richmond college in 1888 and the degree of Ph.D. by the College of New Jersey the same year. He is the author of : Coming Millennium; Creation and Development; Moral Science, and contributions to periodical literature. Source Information: Ancestry.com.
