NOTE: An obituary abstract of Freda M. Diehl posted on the Bedford Co., PA GenWeb website in April of 2005 is as follows:
Freda M. Diehl, d/o Dow and Stella (Foor) Conrath, was b. 23 Apr 1921 in Greensburg; m. Woodrow Diehl, who d. Feb 1989; ch: Virgil, Janda Wolford, Shirley Diehl; d. 25 Apr 1989 in Bedford Co.; bur. Bedford Co. Memorial Park. (Source: Bedford Gazette, 1989)
Since I had the marriage date as 1939 (which is incorrect, as in the August 1937 obituary of Stella's brother, Roy Leonard Foor, it lists her as a surviving sister, "Stella C. Conrath of Pittsburgh". I decided to look on to see who the mother of Freda really was, or if she was indeed the child of Stella. Freda, however, is found in the 1930 census with several siblings, living in an orphanage on Lincoln Highway, Hempfield Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA [SH 6A p 169]. The Conrath's listed are: Freda, 8; Ja[mes?], 6; John, 4; Sara, 2. All shown as being born in PA as well as their parents.
