Melva Irene Fickes, a former resident of St. George, New Brunswick, Canada,, died Monday, Oct. 10, at the home of Emanuel Fickes, of Friend's Cove. She had resided in this county just one 1 year to the day, which happened also to be her 24th birthday. She died as the result of child-birth. The baby was born Thursday, and is doing well. She was born Nov. 2, 1909, at St. George, New Brunswick, and was a daughter of Samuel Dodds. Both parents are still living, as well as two brothers and two sisters. She married Clyde Fickes in. September, 1932.
The funeral was held Oct. 31, at 9:00 in the afternoon the husband left for New Brunswick, a distance of 1,200 miles, where the body was taken for burial.

Funeral services for Lester Reed Foor, 86, a resident of Karrington House and formerly of Orchard Lane, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, the Rev. Thomas Schutt officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Foor died at 5:40 a.m. Monday, May 3, 1999, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.
He was born Dec. 1, 1912, in Pemberville to Sumner C. and Martha (Keissig) Jacobs. He was later raised and adopted by his uncle and aunt, John and Tuska Foor. He married Ruth Elizabeth Trudel on Dec. 1, 1933, and she died Sept. 20, 1998.
Surviving is one brother, Charles S. Jacobs, Findlay.
He also was preceded in death by one brother, George W. Jacobs; and one sister, Myrtle Bomers.
Mr. Foor owned a shoe repair business in Findlay for several years. He also worked for his adopted father's shoe repair business in Wayne and as a salesman for a building maintenance company.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Rhineland and Central Europe during World War II. He graduated from Wayne High School.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survived by sons, Dwayne of IN, Scott of TN, Robert (Katie) of Gahanna; five grandsons; three great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; and close friend, Dee. He retired from Owens Illinois after 44 years of service, and moved from Columbus to his farm in Morrow County, where he enjoyed his retirement years. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday at COOK & SON - PALLAY FUNERAL HOME, 1631 Parsons Ave., where service will be 11 a.m., Friday. Entombment Lithopolis Mausoleum.
