A Complete History of Fairfield County, Ohio
By Hervey Scott
Published by Siebert & Lilley, printers, 1877
"Statement of John Courtright, of Bloom Township" - My mother was a sister of the late Walter McFarland, of Greenfield township. She came with her father, William McFarland, to this county in 1799, and settled first on Hooker's Prairie, four miles northwest of Lancaster. Her father intended to enter the land where the Hookers live, but there were two men who claimed it by tomahawk-right, and he went and entered the land where Walter McFarland afterward lived and died.

"William McFarland had two sons--John and Walter. John was the father of William, Robert, and Walter McFarland, late of Greenfield township and Walter was the father of John McFarland, now of Greenfield.

"About two years after the arrival of the McFarlands, Abraham Van Courtright, my grandfateher, settled near what is now known as the Betser Church, two miles south of Lockville. He did not remain there long before he bought land and moved over to the vicinity of the present village of Greencastle, where he died fifty-one or two years ago, or about the year 1825. His three sons -- John, Jesse and Abraham Courtright, settled in the same neighborhood, where they are all buried. John settled two and a half miles south of Greencastle; Jesse lived in Greencastle where he deceased many years since. My father, Abraham Courtright, bought a place from a Mr. Vandemark, one mile east of Greencastle, on the old Columbus road, upon which he lived many years and died at a ripe old age.

OBIT: Marysville Journal-Tribune, Marysville, Ohio.

PAUL ARNOLD FOOR
Paul Arnold Foor, 47, of Marysville, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at
his home after an extended illness with his wife and daughters were at
his side.
He was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed sharing his talents with his
family and many friends. He was formerly employed in the packaging
department of Scotts. He was a 1974 graduate of Marysville High School
and was dearly loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a loving
husband, a devoted father and grandfather and a good friend. He loved
fishing, playing bingo and country music and possessed a talent for
drawing and woodworking. He was very appreciative of the gifts given him
and the friendships he shared.
He was born Jan. 12, 1958, in Delaware to the late Charles and Betty
Moore Foor Sr. He was preceded in death by his father on Jan. 14, 1996,
and by a daughter, Betty Lee Siders Foor, on April 18, 1993.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 27 years, Brenda Siders Foor, to
whom he was married on May 7, 1977; two daughters, Jennifer Ann (Shanon)

Marysville; eight brothers- and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and
nephews and countless friends.
After cremation, services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The Mannasmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

NOTE: I cannot figure out who the daughter is who preceded him in death mentioned as "Betty Lee Siders Foor" who, according to the obituary, died on April 18, 1993. In looking through the online social security death index, there is no Betty Foor or Betty Siders who died in 1993.
