June R. Grove of Dover, PA wrote...
"Your website as it relates to Fairfield County, OH is fascinating. Here is an excerpt from our new book: "The Runkle Family of Fairfield County, OH" which may shed a little more light on the subject. These two Dubs ladies are the daughters of Oswald Dubs (ca 1720 in Switzerland to August, 1766 in York County, PA. Oswald Dubs was the first person buried in Wildasin's Meeting House Cemetery. A photo of his tombstone will be included in our new book. I've attended services (in German) at this church several times.
Oswald Dubs Sr. married in 1751, Salome Bowman, born February 24, 1722, the daughter of Henry Bowman and Catharine Darr. Salome's sister, Susanna Bowman, born September 8, 1732, married Johann Jacob Thoman and their two daughters married two brothers of Ludwig Runkle. I descend from this youngest brother, Jacob Runkle Jr. In fact, Ludwig Runkle's father married first, Anna Mae Dubs, sister of Oswald Dubs. She died in childbirth in 1751 and then he married our ancestor, Anna Maria Albright. So here is how all this relates to Fairfield County, OH:
4. Barbara Dubs (1755-1831) married Ludwig Runkle.
5. Oswald Dubs Jr. (1758-1845) married Margaret Thoman, daughter of Jacob Thoman and Susanna Bowman. Oswald Dubs Jr. served in the Revolutionary War. There is a plaque on his grave in Wildasin's Meeting House Burial Ground. Children of Oswald Jr. and Margaret Thoman are: Anna Mary Dubs married Joseph Sticks, Catharine Dubs married Jacob Sable, Sarah Dubs married Peter Mayer, Susanna Dubs (1783) married Henry Huber, John Dubs (1786-1851) married Elizabeth Rohrbaugh, Jacob Dubs (1787-1851) married Elizabeth Motter, George Dubs (1789-1848) married Susanna Myers, Daniel Dubs (1791), Maria Salome Dubs (1795) and Magdalena Dubs (1796).
6. Christina Dubs (1764-1820) married Adam Kramer and died in Canal Winchester, OH. NOTE: The name "Hasthar" looks as if it was crossed out after written, OR, the single line was placed there FIRST indicating that the surname preceding it on previous columns would be the same, in this case, "Hartman". Then where it specifies the relationship of the individual, it looks as if both "Daughter" and "brother" were once written there -- it's hard to tell which one was the last. The sex is 'female', but then the occupation is dairy laborer making me believe it's more likely to be a male.

DOB/DOD/POBurial: "Cemeteries of Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH", Fairfield County Gen. Soc., Chapter OGS, 1996, p 113. Name listed as Mary Walters, wife of Jesse S., died Feb. 25, 1866, aged 17y 11m 25d. I believe this is an error and should be more like 47y. In the 1860 census Mary was 41, and unless she died and he remarried another woman with the same name, and only one year older than his daughter, then again, I think this is an error. This Mary also died a few days after daughter Alice. DOB is therefore figured from census only, not the age at death since I feel it's incorrect.

DOB/POB/DOD/POD/Spouse: Information submitted to LDS by Leann Eliason of Mesa, AZ; submission #AF97-100911.
Jacob died at the home and farm of his son Jacob, Jr., now (1916) owned by J. J. Schmidt, Jr. and lying one mile west of Royal Center, Ind.
He emigrated from Pa. to Fairfield Co. O. and made his first purchase June 27, 1817. This consisted of a farm of 102.14 acres with improvements in Greenfield Twp. (Sec. 19, Township 15, and Range 19 of the U. S. Congress Lands) for which he paid $3200 in cash. Later he made other purchases of farm lands and some lots in Greencastle and Lithopolis. (Fairfield Co. Deeds.) In 1835 Jacob moved to Royal Center where he and all of his children settled. He was a man of energy and great respectability always seeking to advance his position and resources. His honesty and fair dealing established him as a good neighbor. His intelligence and sound judgment were prized by those who knew him and his advice was often counciled in neighborhood matters.
"The eight sons were stalwart men of pleasing address and appearance. Two of them were ministers of the gospel. Four held offices of honor and trust in the county." (Ref. Carl G. Kistler.) His descendants are numerous, good citizens and thrifty. The Kistlers have held many family reunions at Royal Center. [Source unk.}
