This was torn down in 1868 to save it from the Pinney fire, but was rebuilt. There were a daughter and two sons in the family of near my own age. The eldest son, Howard, died before reaching manhood. Peter, the younger, is still living at Marcy, and is hale and hearty. 1905 - Oct. 26th issue. Daniel Arnold died in Lithopolis on Oct. 16th. He had lived in Lithopolis for 50 years. "Genealogical Abstracts from The Lancaster (Ohio) Gazette, V6, 1901-1905", Fairfield County Gen., Society, 2005, p 198.

Fred D. Arnold, a well known resident of Womelsdorf, Pa., who is engaged in the undertaking business, and also carries on cigar making, was born Feb. 12, 1871, in Womelsdorf, son of William and Lizzie (Stettler) Arnold.

Martin Arnold, the progenitor of the Arnold family in Berks county, was a native of Germany and emigrated to America on the brigantine "Mary", which arrived at Philadelphia, Aug. 25, 1752. In 1759 he had settled in Heidelberg township, and in that year paid a federal tax of $7.98, or three pounds. It appears that he was married before his emigration. Among his children were: John had sons, Isaac, Daniel, William. Samuel, John, Henry and Amos; Jacob; and Rebecca married to Daniel Schneider.

Jacob Arnold, son of Martin, was born July 10, 1787, and died Jan. 15, 1850, aged sixty-two years, six months, five days. He was a brick-layer by trade, and built a house on Second street, Womelsdorf, where he died, and he was buried in the borough. Mr. Arnold saw service in the war of 1812, and was a good and upright citizen. He married Christmas Day, 1812, Eve Catherine Fidler, born in 1790, who died in Fairfield county, Ohio, in her eighty-fourth year. To them were born seven children: Eli died at Womelsdorf; Harry died in Fairfield county, Ohio; Lovina married Benjamin Peifer, and died in Marion township; Jacob married Catherine Moore, daughter of William Moore, of Reading, and died at Womelsdorf; Mary Ann married Fred Killis (whose father came from Germany and lived and died in Womelsdorf); William; and Daniel, twin of William, died in Fairfield county, Ohio, in 1905. All of the family is deceased, except for William who still lives in Womelsdorf.

DOB/DOD/POBurial: "Volume Two, Franklin County, Ohio Cemeteries, Madison Township", Franklin County Chapter OGS, 1981, p 103.

The father was a pioneer of Madison township and made farming his life work. He was a teacher of vocal music for about a half century and in this connection was known throughout Franklin county. He was a democrat in his political views and affiliations and was a public-spirited and influential citizen of his community. He served as township clerk for forty years and for many years was a member of the school board, the cause of education finding in him a warm, and helpful friend. In early life he also engaged in teaching but his last years were devoted to general agricultural pursuits and this claimed the ajor portion of his attention throughout his business career. He owned a well improved farm of one hundred and forty acres in Madison township, but disposed of this about a year prior to his demise, which occurred January 23, 1904, the county thus losing one of its highly honored and esteemed citizens. His family numbered six children, Mrs. Laura Blackwood, Mrs. Mary B. Corwin, Ione H., Robert Grant, Mrs. May D. Burlinger and Frank D. "Taylor, William Alexander. Brian Foor

GLADWIN -- By Marlene Foor

For most young adults turning 21-years-old means being old enough to drink legally, but for Brian Foor turning 21 is a milestone of surviving another year.

Foor, who turns 21 May 11, was born with a rare muscle disease, myotubular myopathy, and after birth was sent home with his parents to die.

Life expectancy was very short for babies born with this disease, but Foor has surprised many doctors at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.

Foor's grandmother, Gertrude Lemke, gave birth to three boys, who are now thought to have had the same disease. One boy lived to nine months old, and the other two only survived hours.

Doctors had no idea what was wrong with them until Foor was born, Lemke said.

Foor was born with the rare muscle disease.

At nine months old, he was hospitalized and placed on a ventilator. Being ventilator-dependent, needing a feeding tube and very limited muscle strength didn't stop Foor from graduating from Gladwin High School, being on the honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society.

A nurse accompanied Foor, in an electric wheelchair, to school to monitor his respiratory care and help him with notes and books.

Because of his tracheostomy, he is unable to speak aloud, but loves to use his computer and play with his Playstation II gaming system.

Last fall he took an online computer class through Mid Michigan Community College and received a B+ as a final grade. He plans to continue taking more classes online.

Foor lives with his mother, Marlene Foor, in Gladwin and is a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He enjoys shopping and going to the movies.

Turning 21 also brings an end to his medical coverage. His mom has been working for a year to find medical services to keep him living at home. Because he requires 24-hour care, nursing care at night, and prescriptions to keep him healthy, it has become a priority to find the best medical coverage for him.

Foor has a great attitude and enjoys life.

John Wesley Foor. Final rites will be held at the Foster funeral home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for John Wesley Foor, 77, whose lifeless body was found Saturday noon by his grandson, Dale Foor, in the barn at the farm home of Mr. Foor's son, Ralph, six miles north of Rochester on road 31.
Services will be in charge of Rev. David Livengood and burial will be made in IOOF cemetery. The body will rest at the Ralph Foor residence until 12 noon Tuesday, after which it will be removed to the funeral home.
The deceased was born in Henry township, this county, on August 23, 1868, the son of William and Katherine Foor. Early in life he engaged in farming in Newcastle and Rochester townships, where he was well known and highly respected. Although retired, he had resided at the farm home of his son Ralph where death came suddenly, induced by a heart attack.
He was married on July 1, 1895, to Martha Richardson, who preceded him in death in 1931.
Surviving, besides the son Ralph, are two daughters, Mrs. Howard Darr of Bremen and Mrs. Orlo Brown of Rochester; four sons, Oris of Huntingdon, Osee of Whiting, Harvey of Gridley, IL., and Leslie of South Bend; twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

[12086] NAME/DOB/DOM/SPOUSE: Online KY Marriage info as seen at RootsWeb. V3, #1177.DOM: Kentucky Online Divorce Index shows Robert L. Foor, no residence listed, and Linda S. Frisby of Fayette Co., KY, were married in the year 1965 and granted a divorce in Fayette Co. in "60774" -- June 7th, 1974?

This MAY be the same Robert L. Foor who was born about 1947 and is the son of Wayne Clifford Foor. No one has ever contacted me about this branch of the family (and they are distantly related to me). The only reason I don't think it might be the same individual is that Robert L. Foor had a son die in March 2004, and his obituary did not list a surviving sibling named Jessica, and the other Robert L. Foor was married, at least at one time, to a Carmelta and had a daughter Jessica.

1919 - H. SACKRITER - ACTIVE MASON - Dies at Monticello After Short Illness. Monticello, Oct. 10 - Henry Sackriter, one of the most prominent Masons in central Illinois, and a long time resident of this city, died at 5:30 Friday morning from complication of diseases, after a short illness. This summer, Mr. Sackriter and wife went to Columbus, O., for an extended visit with their daughter, Mrs. Charles John. While there he was taken ill and for a time his life was despaired of. He recovered sufficiently, however, to return home three weeks ago last Saturday. About a week ago he became ill again. He was born Dec. 10, 1832 in Dunsessel, France. At the age of twenty-two he came to America, and settled in Ohio, coming from there to Piatt county. On Sept. 22, 1857, he married Sophia Stuckey. Nine children were born to them. The family moved to Monticello in 1876. For over thirty years he had been associated with the business interests of this city. He was first in the clothing business for several years. In 1892 he built the brick hotel which still bears his name and conducted the hotel until three years ago. Probably no man in this section was better known in Masonic orders than Mr. Sackriter. He was a member of Markwell chatper 4, O.T.S., Fraternal Lodge No. 48, Monticello Coundil 27, all of Monticello, Urbana Knights Templar commandery, and was an honorary member of the Champaign commandery. For over twenty-five years he held the office of treasurer in the chapter here, and at the time of his death wa treasurer of the Council and Blue Lodge. He is survived by his wife and five children, Mrs. Sarah John of Columbus, O., Mrs. Katie Garver of Monticello, Mrs. Anna Stevens of Galesburg, Mrs. Julia Farra of Peoria, and W. H. Sackriter of Cerro Gordo. The funeral will be held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, in charge of the Masons. At his request the Decatur commandery members have been invited to act as escorts. Interment will be in Monticello, Mr. Sackriter made all arrangements for his funeral about three years ago. [Decatur Review, Decatur, IL, Oct. 10, 1919]

1919 - Knight's Templars Attend Sackriter Funeral. Twenty-five members of Urbana Commandery, No. 16, Knights Templar, went to Monticello yesterday to act as escort to the Monticello Blue Lodge of Masons at the funeral of Henry Sackriter, whose death removes the last of the Monticello residents who united with Urbana Commandery back in the 70's before Champaign Commandary was chartered. The services were conducted from the First Presbyterian church of Monticello, of which Mr. Sackriter had been a long member. [Urbana Daily Courier, Urbana, IL., Oct. 13, 1919, p 1]
