[T10650] NAME: Mentioned as "Polly, wife of John Powell" in her father's 1834 partition records, "Partition Record Abstracts, V1, 1812-1851 Fairfield County, Ohio", Fairfield County Chapter OGS, 1987, p 21.

"John Powell married Polly Fellers, a cousin to Henry Powell's wife. He is the father of three children, and is now living in Findlay, Ohio", Powell, John,. Authentic genealogical memorial history of Philip Powell of Mifflin Co., Pa.. : and his descendants and others, with miscellaneous items and incidents of interest. Dayton, Ohio: Published for the author, 1880, p 73.

"John Powell, son of Peter Powell, was born in Mifflin County, Pa., May 24, 1806. When eight years old he came with his parents to Fairfield County, Ohio, where he learned to do all manner of farm-work. He was married Sept. 20th, 1826, to Polly Fellers, daughter of Henry Fellers. She was born Dec. 25, 1808. After their marriage they lived with his father and farmed for him. They were both confirmed in the Germany Reformed Church. He was very zealous in contending for a form of religion but knew nothing of the power. In 1834 they moved to Eagle Twp., Hancock Co., Ohio, where he had entered 420 acres of land. He went to work with a good will, and with the assistance of hired help, soon opened up a large farm. In the course of time he built a sawmill on a stream which flowed through the farm. He farmed extensively, run the sawmill when he had the water-power, and made condsiderable money. But in consequence of overwork and exposure to wet and cold weather, he became afflicted with dropsy, and ofr several years suffered much affliction. His wife also became sickly, and died April 23d, 1862, in bright hopes of heaven and a happy rest from all suffering.

"About 1835 they were both convicted of sin and hopefully converted to God. They united with the Evangelical Association, under the pastoral labors of Rev. Mr. Bucks, late of Pennsylvania, a missionary to Hancock County, Ohio.... Sept. 15, 1862, Brother Powell concluded to marry again, and chose Miss Rebecca Miller, a very fine Christian lady. She was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, Dec. 25, 1832. He had no children with his first wife, but has three with his second; namely, Jeremiah, born Jun 26, 1863; Amos, born July 17, 1865; Mary Rebecca, born May 24, 1871.
