LOCATION: 1927 - "Attacked with a corn cutter, Deputy Sheriff Harry Behrens of Lithopolis was badly cut on the hand this morning and his assailant escaped, carrying a bullet wound from the officers gun. Behrens went alone to a farm near Groveport today noon to arrest Lloyd Loring, 23, wanted for chicken stealing. Loring, who was cutting corn in a field with five or six other men, resisted arrest and was about to attack the deputy when Behrens took his corn cutter away from him. The youth ran to another worker in the field who gave him his corn cutter. Behrens, chasing him, had fired several shots into the air but not until Loring turned upon him and struck him with the cutter did he shoot to wound. Behrens raised his right arm in time to protect his head from the blow, but his hand was lacerated. While he was caring for his own injuries the other men in the field helped Loring escape, it is said, but Behrens is certain the youth was wounded. Sheriff McNaghten was notified as well as Sheriff Gump of Franklin Co. and deputies from both offices are searching for Loring this afternoon. DOD: No "Velma" or "V" or any Foor born in 1895 comes close to being Velma Foor the social security death index. There is a Velma Foor in the Massachusetts death index, Cert. #056362, died in Norwood, born in Boylston, born 11 Feb 1895 (one day off of that submitted by Betty Graff to the Latter Day Saints website), and died 22 Dec 1984. Ancestry.com. Massachusetts Death Index, 1970-1998 [database online]. Provo, Utah: Ancestry.com, 2003. Original data: State of Massachusetts. Massachusetts Death Index, 1970-1998. Boston: Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Health Services, 19--.

NOTE: Since the date of birth of this individual is one day off of that in the Massachusetts index, this MAY NOT BE THE CORRECT DEATH DATE for Velma (Bryson) Foor. It also lists her location of birth as Boylston, MA, and the submitted info to the LDS website showed she was born in Breezewood.

[6869] NAME: From James Hursey via email in March 1999.

DOD: From Melanie Eberhardt via June 2007 email.

DOB/DOM/POM/POB: According to Melanie Eberhardt via April 2003 email, this Peter was abandoned by his father when he was about 2 or 3 years old. No further information at this time has been found on father John Eberhardt. Peter Eberhardt, according to Melanie, married Elsie Mae Mahaffey in Toledo (Lucas Co.) Ohio. This information comes from "stuff [her] grandmother told [her]". Mother Luticia stayed in Delaware to care for aging parents and worked at a local college. Sometime later, Peter lived with his aunt Mary in Toledo.

Because Peter is reported to have stayed with "Aunt Mary" in Toledo, Melanie Eberhardt wonders if the Harry Foor mentioned in the 1910 census is actually Peter.

Annabelle (Deeds) Mcintosh, 84, of Pataskala, OH died 29 January 2001. She was the mother of Jane Ellen "of Gahanna", and Rod McIntosh who were listed as survivors in her obituary published in the Columbus Dispatch, January 31. Jane is listed as "Jane (Dale) Foor". Grandchildren of Annabelle are also mentioned; one is Abby (Todd) Miller of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and Lettie (Ryan) Huyghe of Galloway.
