He had some sort of position on the medical staff of the state, in connection with a state hospital which took a portion of his time. He had but one child, Fred, older than I. I believed the doctor died in his home here. Certainly he was buried here as his grave is marked by the first granite stone erected in the year. that Joseph Foor joined the tide of migration out of northern KY across the
Ohio River into Ohio, probably settling immediately in what is now Brown Co.
Beginning in 1814 Joseph began real estate taxes in what became Brown Co., but was then Clermont Co., and continued to do so through 1827. He appeared in the 1820 census of Eagle Twp., Brown Co., [OH] just north of Pleasant Twp.; his widow appears as a head of family in the 1830 census of Pleasant Twp., Brown Co."
"John H. Foor, a son, was granted letters of administration on 30 Jan 1829 over the estate of Joseph Foor, deceased. John H. stated that his father had died after removing to Cincinnati. Upon hearing of his father's death, John H. went to Cincinnati, paid up the house rent for his father's family, had a coffin built [there] and brought his body home to Brown Co. For this purpose as well as bringing back the widow, two small children and personal property of the deceased, he booked passage on a steamboat down the river."
