INDEX

[19062] NOTE: marriage info shows maiden name as 'Dawdle'. I believe the 'Dawdle' is actually 'Doudel' - both husband and wife were unmarried and living in same township in the 1850 census. Margaret Crites, as a wife, shows in 1900 that her father was born in PA and mother in MD. In the 1850 census, these are the states that her supposed parents were born.

NOTE: It would appear at first glance that all the grandchildren listed are
the children of William and Ida; however, Ida shows that she did have 5
children, but none were living. Error? Or children from a deceased child?

NOTE: In "A Biographical Record of Fairfield and Perry Counties, Ohio, S. J. Clarke Pub., Co., 1902, p 360, it lists the children of George Dowdell. Margaret is listed as the wife of Joseph PRICE. Price rhymes somewhat with Crites. Is this an error?

[15043] NAME/PARENTAGE: From Michelle (Foore) via April 2001 email.

OBIT: Toledo Blade, Toledo, Ohio, January 25, 2004
RANDALL FOORE, 1950-2004
Construction boss admired for his fairness

Randall Foore, who oversaw construction projects at the Medical College of Ohio and Bowling Green State University and in downtown Toledo, died of cancer Friday in his South Toledo home. He was 53.

Mr. Foore, a lifelong Toledoan, graduated from Whitmer High School in 1969 and studied engineering at the University of Toledo.

In 1972, he began working for MCO as a painter. He was soon promoted to painting supervisor and later to supervisor of all maintenance workers.

Mr. Foore insisted on quality work, but he was willing to give struggling employees a second chance, his wife, Jo-Ellen, said.

"My husband had the ability to listen to both sides of the story and come up with a solution that was compatible to everybody," she said.

Mr. Foore's reputation as a fair supervisor allowed him to continue rising in the ranks at MCO. For many years, he was the manager of construction services.

"He was in charge of all the construction on the MCO campus," his wife said. "He made sure the jobs got done according to the specifications of the architect."

In 1999, Mr. Foore left MCO. A year later, he joined the Collaborative, Inc., as a project administrator.

With the Collaborative, he directed several area construction projects, acting as a liaison between architects and general contractors.

His projects included parts of the Mud Hens stadium, buildings at Ashland College near Cleveland, and the new Bowen-Thompson Student Union at Bowling Green State University.

"That [Bowling Green] job was his pride and joy," his wife said.

Mr. Foore enjoyed playing sports. He played on the MCO traveling hockey team, golfed, and bowled in a local league, but his true passion was fishing.

He recently bought a boat and liked taking fishing trips with family members to Canada.

On one trip, he treated several relatives to a boating excursion because he wanted to share the experience.

"He would give anything to anybody," his brother, Scott, said.

Mr. Foore's honesty and generosity won him many friends over the years, family members said.

"He was kind to everybody he met," his wife said. "He touched so many lives because his heart was so big."

Surviving are his wife, Jo-Ellen; sons, Sam Foore and Larry Snuggs, Jr.; parents, Donald and Evelyn, and brothers, Steve, Scott, and Mike.

The body will be in the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home after 2 p.m. tomorrow. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Assembly of God.

The family requests tributes to Toledo Christian School, Calvary Assembly of God, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

[Toledo Blade, Toledo, Ohio, Jan 25, 2004]
My beloved husband, Randall Foore, age 53, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2004. Randy passed away with my loving arms, children, and brother, Scott, around him, after a long battle with cancer.
Randy graduated from Whitmer High School in 1969 and attended The University of Toledo School of Engineering. Randy worked at MCO, working his way up through the ranks to manager of construction services. After 28 years at MCO, in the year 2000, Randy began working for the wonderful firm Collaborative, Inc., as project administrator.
Randy was very active in sports, with a love for fishing, hockey, bowling, and golf. Randy devoted his life to his wife and children.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Jo-Ellen (Mannebach) and two beautiful sons, Sam Foore and Larry Snuggs Jr., and his faithful dog, Jake; parents, Donald and Evelyn (Kerns) Foore, and three brothers, Steve, Scott, and Mike Foore.
Randy is also survived by his loving in-laws, Louie and Mary Mannebach; sister-in-law, Stacy Schumacher; brothers-in-law, Louis (Debbie) Mannebach and Steve (Jill) Mannebach, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to send special thanks to our wonderful friends and family at The Collaborative, for their kindness and generosity which allowed Randy to care for his family during his courageous battle with cancer.
Thanks also to our friends at Toledo Christian School for their generous support and prayers and our friends at Promedica for their kindness. We would also like to thank Stacy Schumacher, Sherry Jasman, and Sara Valiant for caring for Randy through his long journey.
Friends and family may call at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Rd., Monday from 2-9 p.m. Services will be held at Calvary Assembly of God, 5025 Glendale Ave., Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family requests donations to Toledo Christian School, Calvary Assembly of God, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
"Blessed are the Children who suffer for there will be a special place for them in Heaven."

2007 - listed as a son who preceded him in death in father's August 2007 obit.

"The next house, corning the alley, flush with the street was originally the home of the Jungkurths. On this same lot was their tombstone factory. Here thousands of markers for thousands of graves of the pioneers were made and erected. There is not a cemetery within a radius of twenty-five miles which cannot show many of these stones. Originally these were cut from the freestone, but these not standing the weather well, in the later years Italian and Vermont marble and southern granite were used, this especcially after the elders had passed away the the business was continued by their sons. There were four of these sons, William, Lewis, Harmon, Theodore, and several daughters. One as having been mentioned, married Vinton Rummel, another, Jane, married John Oyler, a member of the buggy factory firm of Hunter, Oyler and Sheffler. I think there was another who married a Mr. Searles. Lewis served in the War of the Rebellion, but never married. [5072] NAME/DOB/POB: AFN 9NGD-M2.

Henry E. Mason, who is an enterprising and successful farmer of Bertram township, was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, on the 4th of October, 1851, a son of Robert and Susannah (Brauneller) Mason. The father was a native of Virginia, while the mother was born in the Buckeye state. They spent their married life in Ohio and to them were born ten children of whom four are deceased. With the exception of Henry lit all the others live in Ohio. Both the parents are now deceased, their death occurring in that state.

Henry E. Mason was reared in the state of his nativity and assisted his father in his work until he had reached the age of twenty-six years. He then rented land in Ohio, which he operated for ten years, and subsequently sought the broader opportunities of the middle west, coming to Linn county, Iowa. He has made farming and stock-raising his work since coming to this state and now rents a farm of two hundred and forty acres in Bertram township.

Mr. Mason was married to Miss Clara Sawyer, a daughter of William and Isabel Sawyer, both of whom died in Ohio. Mrs. Mason is one of six children born to her parents, of whom four are now living, the other three making their home in Ohio. Unto Mr. and Mrs. Mason have been born three children: Valid
F., who married Flora Munn and lives at home; Orval C., who married a Miss Walters and lives in Bertram township; and Merrill M., still under the parental roof.

In politics Mr. Mason is a republican and his fellow townsmen have called upon him to fill a number of local offices. He has served as alderman of Mount Vernon, has been school director and at the present time is serving as trustee of Bertram township. His fraternal relations connect him with Mount Vernon Lodge, No. 551, I. 0. 0. F., in which he has filled the chair of noble grand. Both he and his wife are members of the Presbyterian church, in which he has served as trustee. Mr. Mason is a man of worth in the community in which he makes his home. He takes a deep interest in public affairs, lending his aid and influence in the cause of every good movement and heartily promoting the progress and advancement of his locality.

NOTE: the census taker used quote marks in order to bring down the information from a higher column. For instance, if Julia was born in CT, a quote mark was used for the birth sate of Wilburt if he was also born in CT. At first glance, it appears that all the children are born in CT, and all the children list their father born in DE, and mother in CT. If you look closely, though, there are quote marks underneath the state abbreviations for the mother's birth state, as well as her parents birth places. You'd have to see the image for better understanding. In short, I'm sure that all the children were born in Ohio, rather than CT as it looks at first glance.
