"Harry Finney, 24, of Lithopolis, is under arrest at Columbus and according to officers there has confessed to the robbery, Wednesday night June 15th of William Conaway's home near Lithopolis and forging of Conaways name to checks which he is alleged to have stolen from the house. Besides checks, checkbook and account books, Finney is said to have stolen Conaway's revolver and this led to his downfall when he attempted to pawn it in a Columbus shop Friday morning. When arrested he gave the name of Conaway and it was by an amusing coincidence that his real identity was discovered. Deputy Sheriff Behrens of Fairfield county, another Lithopolis man, was in Columbus on another case when the police captain told him that William Conaway, a man from the deputy's home town was in jail. Behrens, mystified, asked, asked to see him and recognized Finney who, seeing his identity was disclosed is said to have confessed. [Lancaster Daily Eagle, Lancaster, Ohio, Jun 22, 1927]

Alex Chesser, alias Silas Stuart, aged 20, has been brought to the Fairfield county jail following his arrest in Columbus and will be tried here for the burglarizaing of William Conaway's home near Lithopolis. Shesser [sic] is said to have aided Harry Finney, 24, Conaway's nephew, to rob the house. Finney is held at Columbus and according to police there confessed the robberty and also the forgery of his uncle's name. [Lancaster Daily, Eagle, June 25, 1927]

Harry Finney, a former Lithopolis man, was sentenced to a year in Mansfield Reformatory when he pleaded guilty to forgery yesterday in Columbus court. Fairfield Co. officials still hold a warrant for Finney's arrest, charging him with breaking into his uncle's house at Lithopolis last June. On this occasion he was accompanied by Algie Chesser, it is said, and the latter is now serving 1-7 years in the reformatory for that offense, he being captured and sentenced here. The Columbus police, however, got Finney before the local officers found him and he went 'over the road' on their charge. [Lancaster Daily Gazette, Oct. 27, 1927]

"Youth Who Robbed Lithopolis House Runs Away From Prison Honor Farm" - Three
prisoners walked away from the honor farm at the Mansfield Reformatory
yesterday afternoon according to a report made to the state penitentiary
today. They were... Algie Chesser, 21, [of] Fairfield county, serving 1-7
years for burglary and larceny... Chesser, who originally came from Conyers,
GA, was 'sent up' Oct. 11th last year after he had been convicted of robbing
William Conaway's residence at Lithopolis. He was said to have abetted
Conaway's nephew in the deed." [Lancaster Daily Eagle, Lancaster, Ohio, July

Shoff, who is also a native of Fairfield County, being a daughter of John and Catherine (Allspauch) Shoff, both of Fairfield County. Mr. Shoff died in 1893, and his wife in 1902. They were the parents of six children, as follows: A child who died unnamed; Anna E.; Samantha, deceased; Wesley; Minna, deceased; and Elmer.

Two children were born to Felix Kiger and his wife, namely: Ella Viola and Nora Emma, both living at home and interested in raising poultry. They make a specialty of Buff Plymouth Rock chickens, having more than 400 at a time, and ship eggs and chickens t o all parts of the country, including Canada and Mexico.

After his marriage, Mr. Kiger bought a farm in Fairfield County, which he sold when he moved to Marion County, in August, 1895, and located on his present farm. He has since been engaged in general farming and stockraising, making a specialty of Poland China hogs. Mr. Kiger is a Republican in politics. He is a member of the Methodist Church.
