William H. H. Coffman served in the Illinois cavalry. His father applied
for his pension on July 6, 1880, and mother on April 15, 1881. Father listed
as Noah B. Coffman and mother as Margaret Coffman. National Archives and

OBIT: Funeral To Be Held Tuesday. G.A.R. Post WIll Have Charge of Rites for Capt. W. H. Coffman. The funeral of Capt. W. H. Coffman, who died at his home, 1100 West Church Street, Champaign, at 9?:30 on Saturday night, following an illness of only a week, will be conducted at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning from the home with the Champaign G.A.R. post in charge. The decedent was born June 13, 1837 in Fairfield county, Ohio, a son of Noah B. and Elizabeth Coffman. In 1862 the family moved to Illinois and located in Piatt county, where they resided until March 1861, the coming to Champaign county and engaged in farming. In Sept. 1861, at Champaign, he enlisted as a private in Company I, Tenth cavalry and immediately was made a sergeant. On Oct. 22, 1862, he was promoted to second lieutenant, on March 15, 1863 to first lieutenant, and on March 10, 1864 to captain. He served throughout the war in Company I. After being mustered out of the service on Jan. 6, 1865, Captain Coffman returned to Champaign and engaged in farming, continuing that pursuit until 1872, when he entered the mercantile business at Bondville. Eight years later he sold out and resumed farming, remaining on the farm until 1893, when he moved to Champaign. In 1894 he was elected justice of the peace and had held that office ever since. For many years Captain Coffman had been active in the G.A.R., being chaplain of Colonel Langley post at the time of his death. He also was prominent in the Methodist church. In February 1868 he was married to Miss Magaret M. Allen, who died April 30, 1909. Two children, both of whom survived, were born to the couple. They are Birch D., of Chicago and Jessie C. Gregg of Champaign, with whom Mr. Coffman made his home. Three brothers, D. H. Coffman of Champaign, T. D. Coffman of Oakland, Cal., and S. C. Coffman of Hastings, Neb., also survive. Esther A. Foor, 71, of Everett, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Altoona Hospital.
She was born May 4, 1933 in East Providence Township, a daughter of the late Simon D. and Alice M. (Wilkinson) Foor.
On March 17, 1951, she married Marvin A. Foor Sr., who preceded her in death on April 13, 1984.
She is survived by the following children: Rickey D. and wife Roberta (Grubb) Foor, Everett; David L. and wife Peggy (Watson) Foor, Hanoverton, Ohio; Connie R. and husband Glenn Barnett, of Everett; Marvin A. Jr. and wife Carol (Weist) Foor, Everett and Dolores E. Milburn , Everett; three Brother, Curtis Foor and wife Susan (Ritchey), North Jackson, Ohio; Morrell Foor, Hanoverton, Ohio; and Dwight Foor, Youngstown, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, infant granddaughter, Kimberly, and seven brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Foor was a lifetime member of the Rays Cove Christian Church.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed collecting gingerbread memorabilia and was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2004 at 1 P.M. at the Rays Cove Christian Church with Rev. M.W. Nesselrodt, Rev. Mitch Hartman and Rev. Mary Hartman officiating. Burial will be held at the Rays Cove Cemetery.
Friends my call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett on Friday from 4-9 P.M. and on Saturday at the church from 12 noon until the hour of service.

Mrs. Eleanor D. MUSSELMAN, Macy, died at 2:40 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Hospital following a month's illness. She had been a resident of Macy since 1908 and had many friends in both Miami and Fulton counties.
She was born in Keyser, W.Va., on Jan. 20, 1878, to Richard and Mary Ida (DAVIS) SWIFT. On Nov. 25, 1895, she was married at Macy to Samuel H. MUSSELMAN. Mrs. Musselman was a member of the Macy Methodist church, the O.E.S.; the Methodist W.S.C.S. and was acharter member of the Mothers Club of Macy; she was also a past matron of the O.E.S.
Survivors are the husband, at home, and the following children, Mrs. Mary E. BRIGGS and B. Oren MUSSELMAN, both of Macy. She was the last member of a family of seven children.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the macy Methodist church. Rev. Jack PAVEY will officiate and burial will be in the Macy Plainview cemetery.

PIERCE Lillian M. Pierce (Williams), former resident Canal Winchester, died February 4, 2012, Port Charlotte, Florida. Born Waterville, Maine June 13, 1922 to parents Clarence and Carolyn Williams. Graduated H.S. Union, Maine, earned her Diploma State Street School of Nursing, Portland, Maine and served as a Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps WWII. She earned her B.S. Ohio University and later M.A. and Ph.D. in Guidance, Counseling and Nursing at The Ohio State University. She was an Instructor and later Director of Nursing Lancaster-Fairfield Hospital School of Nursing, a Professor of Nursing at The Ohio State University and for two years, the hospital's Director of Nursing Research. She was a Professor at Capital University's School of Nursing and is credited with pioneering the integration of research into its undergraduate curriculum in 1972. She served as its Dean from 1981 until her retirement to Maine and Florida in 1987. During her career in Nursing, Dr. Lillian M. Pierce authored and co-authored many published articles and was a member of many national, regional and state professional organizations as well as the nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau International. She was a visiting scientist at Batelle Memorial Institute and a consultant for the US Public Health Service, the Veterans Administration, the American Hospital Association and the Ohio Board of Health. She served on various boards and advisory committees focused on nursing, research and public health including the Heinzerling Memorial Foundation. In 1981 she was selected by the student body at Capital University to receive the Praestantia Award and in 2010, when inducted into the university's Professors Hall of Honor, Lil was described by one of her peers as a leader, teacher, nurse, scientist, researcher, colleague, mentor and friend. LMP had enjoyed bowling, golf, the Buckeyes, reading and playing cards but from beginning to end, she most enjoyed the fine taste of wild Maine blueberries and fresh lobster. Preceded in death by brothers Frank and Lynwood Williams and husband John Vaughn Pierce. Survived by sister, Christine Savage; brothers, Edward (Marion) and Clarence (Nedra) Williams; daughters, Stephanie Reid and Kimberly (Amy) Lascola; granddaughter, Tracy (Chris) Uhl; great-grandchildren, Jack and Emily; many nieces, nephews and friends, both new and old.
