Daniel Glick "Jr" was appointed guardians of his brothers, Isaac and Lewis, "minor sons of Daniel Glick, Sr.,". He and his brother Solomon were the executors of their father's estate, will written 15 Feb 1823 and filed in 1829, recorded in Will Book 2, p 182.
DOB/POB: IGI film #2034458.
Supposedly there was only one wife for this particular Daniel Glick; Catherine Elizabeth Solt. It was thought that she died and he married a sister to Catherine; Eve Solt. There IS a marriage shown for an "Eave Scott" and Daniel Glick, but perhaps this is a different Daniel? The Daniel Glick in the 1850 census shows his wife as "Eve". The first two children listed in the 1850 census with them were baptised in the Salem Lutheran Church and their parents are shown as "Daniel and Eve".
1809 - Daniel Brobst, born 11 Jun 1809, child of Jacob & Catharina Brobst, was bapt. on 23 Jul 1809 by Wilhelm Forster. The sponsor listed was Daniel Glück, Jr. Jacob Brobst's wife was Catharina Glick who had a brother Daniel. This is most likely who the sponsor was. William Marshall Long, second child of George and Julian Smith Long, was born January 14, 1849, in Madison township, Franklin county, Ohio. In early infancy, he was baptized by the Rev. Wemley and made an heir of the Kingdom of God. On Easter Sunday, 1865, together with four other young Christians, he vowed allegiance to his Savior at the altar of St. John's Lutheran church in Lithopolis. For fifty-nine years he remained faithful to that confirmation vow. On the Lord's Day, he was ever to be found in the House of God taking a very active part in the worship until last spring when sickness confined him to his home. When the Lord's Supper was administered, he faithfully received the precious Sacrament, missing only four times in those fifty-nine years.
On August 24, 1871, he was united in holy wedlock to Elmira C. Arnold, Rev. Geo. Hatter officiating. To this happy union were born seven children, three sons and four daughters. Two sons and two daughters died in infancy.
He was always a healthy and active man. Besides taking a keen interest in his home and in his church, locally and at large, he served the public in various fields. He was at one time a member of his district school board, later also a member of the Franklin county infirmary board. As a township trustee, he ever advocated the building of good roads. In his last years, he served his town, Canal Winchester as councilman.
His illness dates from March 10, 1923. Since that time, he was obliged to spend the greater part of his days in the house, in bed. On Saturday, June 21, he became unconscious. He remained in this state until noon Tuesday, June 24, when the gracious Lord relieved him from his suffering. Mr. Long reached the age of 75 years, 6 months and 10 days.
There remain to mourn his departure his faithful wife, three children, Geo. F., Abbie Hoover and Lizzie Oyler; two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Dowler of Columbus, a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the home at two o'clock Thursday afternoon and at 2:30 at his church, the Rev. Lammert Redelfs officiating. His body was laid to rest in the beautiful God's acre in Lithopolis where it will await the second coming of the Redeemer.
1924 - William M. Long, 76 died Monday at his home in Canal Winchester. He was a member of the Canal Winchester council. He is survived by his widow, one son George; two daughters, Mrs. Abbie Hoover, Groveport, and Mrs. Elizabeth Oyler, Hebron, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held today from St. Johns Lutheran church Lithopolis of which he was a member. Burial will be in Lithopolis cemetery. [Lancaster Daily Eagle, Lancaster, Ohio, June 25, 19244]
